A lot of it is to do with three things i think, the Chris Beniot murders, Linda McMahon's political career and Mattel toys, they all had big parts to play in why wwe changed,

The Chris Beniot murders made them cut down on the blood and chair shots to the end

Linda McMahon's political career, made them be more family friendly to make her look better

Mattel toys, because they make a hell of a lot of money from wwe toys.
In 2008, because it is more suitable for children and attrackus more money.
Because some mentally ill fucktard killed his wife and kids, and himself.

And it attracts even more Micky mouse squeakers to watch the WWE.
It's good for business.
WWE was struggling in 2006-2007 so they had to change things up, and do something that gets new/younger viewers.

Look at many WWE fans today(who are like 14+), didn't most of those people watch WWE when they were kids? Most of WWEs older audience, watched when they were kids, so WWE targeting kids, will have same impact in several years, but this time around, many more of those kids will continue to watch WWE when they get older.

Look at the media today. When talking about wrestling, most of the times, you hear them talking about Savage,Warrior,Hogan. Not as much as you'd hear Rock,Austin talk. It'd be similar thing with this generation.

And the fact that PG wides the amount of people WWE could target(and most of TVs best shows are rated PG)
They did it for Linda's political career and because more and more traditional fans tuned out after Cena's super-push while more kids were being seen in the audience. Vince saw the opportunity and took it.
More kids and teenagers when to shows back in the AE and watched on TV, than they do today.
The weekly "why is WWE PG thread. with the exception of the Attitude Era, they have always been PG. All era's had their good stuff and crappy stuff regardless of what the TV rating is.

Has the money point ever really been proven? Are they doing way better then they were before PG?

Actually no they havent. There have been plenty of instances from 2001(end of the attitude era) through 2007 to show that they were not pg...more like pg13:

Lita/Edge sex celebration

Kane lighting JR on fire

Kane electrocuting Shane McMahon

Who killed Vince

Orton "Eddies in hell"

DX even though much more tame than the old dx were still pg13 ish.

Plenty more...

Chris Benoit and every other thing is few and far between. The Benoit incident, in my opinion is the main, if not the sole cause of WWE being PG. That incident brought a ton of negative publicity into the WWE. Vince new he would face a ton of backlash, PG was the only route. However is that an excuse for a terrible product, especially in the terrible borderline G-Rated 2009? Hell no. Benoit was 5 years ago. Time to move on.
Linda McMahon's political career, made them be more family friendly to make her look better
Linda needs to get fucked, and I don't mean literally, though that might help. I don't appreciate politics getting involved in my fucking recreation. This isn't the first time I've heard, "well that happened because blah blah Linda and her stupid ass senate run". WTF

The funny thing is, if she was remotely close to a good politician, she would twist any argument directed at the WWE aside and make her opponents look like an idiot. Simply laugh and question what an "entertainment" company has to do with her politics. Instead she is too fucking retarded and should just give up.

Exactly. For the 19 years Raws been on the air, about 10 of it has been PG rating.

TV rating doesn't matter. The rating doesn't even restrict what WWE can do. WWE proved that with CM Punk last year(and the stuff he said) and The Rock as well(with stuff he said).

Look at tv shows today that air around 8pm(at least in september-may), they're PG rated(like Simpsons,Big Bang Theory) and they do/say things that according to this site, isn't PG....
The fact that the whole "Who Killed Vince" storyline was right at the same time as the Benoit incident didn't help matters. And the worst part is, "Who Killed Vince" was trending worldwide that week.

Yahoo, Twitter, Forums, google... everywhere.

If Benoit didn't do the shit he did in there... WWE would have sailed that "Who Killed Vince" ship longer. But because of Benoit's stunt, WWE and Vince had to drop the storyline for good the very next week.
Linda McMahon
Chris Benoit
John Cena
Wha? Cena? Cena was fucking PG13. What the fuck are you talking about?
It has nothing to do with Chris benoit. Its because of Sponsors.

That's bullshit. More viewers doesn't mean better show, you only have to look on critical reviews from sites like imDB to know TV14 shows like Breaking Bad are topping the reception polls.
