When Hulk Hogan or other WWE Personalities talk about Andre, they always talk about WM III with Hogan, and they talk as if it was his last match. No one brings up the WM IV rematch with Hogan, or how Andre helped Ted Dibiase get to the Finals. The WM V match with Jake The Snake is never mentioned, The Tag Title Switch with Demolition is almost forgotten, as is Andre's appearance at WM VII in the Big Bossman vs Mr. Perfect match.

Why is this?

WWE revisionist history for the main part. They'd seemingly have us believe these days that Andre was finished after Hogan slammed him.

That and a lot of his matches weren't very good at that part of his career.

Because his body was detoriating and his matches sucked. Only a handfull of matches were somewhat decent. But his match against Randy Savage at Saturday Nights Main Event was actually good, so was his match against Bam Bam Bigelow at MSG. His lumberjack-match against Duggan was a decent encounter, as was his steel cage match against Hogan

Revisionist Hogan! Andre died several days after Mania III, due to injuries sustained from the body slam, BROTHER.

Because after Wrestlemania 3 he was a shell of himself and not the big unstoppable monster he was before putting over Hogan in his last "big" match. I'm an Andre fan but he didn't do much after WM3 because he couldn't hardly move...he was either in matches with Jake that were designed around him being scared of the snake so they were always relatively quick or tag matches where Haku could do most of the heavy lifting or putting over Warrior in 10 second matches..Who wants to remember that Andre?

Indeed. Which is sad, because the brief hint we got of a possible feud with Earthquake towards the end was quite tantalizing; a showdown between both of them at full strength--or even a full strength Andre taking on both Natural Disasters at once--would have been so many degrees of epic. And we can only think how he could have matched up against the Undertaker or Yokozuna if given the chance as well.

Not a knock on him, but Andre had some abysmal matches post-WM III, especially on the tag circuit. He'd stand in the corner, make the tag, hit some headbutts, and then drop a pretty horrid looking elbow to finish it.

Case in point:

His body just couldn't handle it anymore.

Holy moly I have never seen such puny arms on a pro wrestler than Giant Baba's.

People like to reminisce about people at their peaks. If I'm thinking about Jordan it's Chicago Bulls not the Washington Wizards. Andre was at the end when Hogan defeated him and while he did hang around a few more year WrestleMania 3 was that symbolic passing of the torch.

I think it's quite obvious why Andre's matches after WM III are not talked about much. Even his title win is tainted with the double referees. Vince and Steph idolize Andre too much to make any reference of his legend post 1987.

Andre was in great pain in 1987, and it only got worse. H didnt live 6 years after Mania III. His matches wth Warrior were a joke he lost a series across the country in under a minute to Warrior. Even 1987 Andre paled versus his younger self. Look up Andre vs Stan Hansen or Hogan from Japan on youtube That is a vastly different Andre than what we got later in WWF.

I'm absolutely in awe of Andre and have the kind of respect for him that's really only reserved for himself, Taker, Macho Man, Lesnar and Austin.. but his matches after Mania 3 sucked. He was struggling physically, he's not to blame for it. Hard to watch matches like that now when we're used to a much faster and more athletic style in general

Why don't people want to remember Michael Jordan's tenure with the Wizards, because it sucked, it should've ended with the Bulls in 98.

Just like Andre, everything after WM3 and post-WM3 (SNME rematch, WM4 rematch) all with Hogan was disastrous - it was hard to watch him.
