Why do you care...

This is something that has been eating at me for a long time, and i don't think it's been posted about, as far as i know.

Its a pretty simple question: Why do you care about anything else, other than being entertained by a wrestler? The amount of times i've see written on wrestling forums:

"Wrestler A can't draw as much as Wrestler B"
"Wrestler X never put anyone over"
"He's only in the main even because of ...."

Why do you care about that?

I can see people replying that "Wrestler A isn't good for business, because Wrestler B earns the company more money" etc, but why the hell does that matter!? We are FANS; do you watch any other TV shows, and have these same issues? The complaints should be based around issues like "Wrestler X doesn't entertain me". That should be all that matters!

The one that gets me is when people say 'Wrestler X can't draw'.

If you worked for WWE then fair enough, but who cares as a fan on the outside?
Some people are interested in that side of the wrestling business as well as the actual wrestling program itself.
People who say that one wrestler can't draw and other one can are trying to be smartasses and think they actually know something about the inside buiseness. I would understand that, if CM Punk or someone who's been in the buiseness professionally would say that, but when a fan says that, it's just ridiculous.
I hate the "Wrestler A can't draw as much as Wrestler B" argument as its not like you are going to be personally out of pocket for the bad buyrates.Only Vince McMahon should be concerned with who's drawing. Its not like its going to affect your enjoyment of a wrestler and is a tool used by certain marks to make their guy seem better.

And this is perfectly fine. What gets me is when people say ____ is better/more talented than ___ because one wrestler got a higher quarter hour rating or sold more merchandise this month. We all know judging talent is subjective but using the numbers to judge talent never seemed right to me unless you're a Hogan/Rock/Austin but there are other factors to their greatness as well. What I'm trying to say I guess is you will never see me claiming Goldberg is better or greater wrestling legend than a Ricky Steamboat or a Jerry Lawler because he he may have drew more money than them.
What gets me is people complaining about low ratings.
Unless you work for the company...why give a shit?
It baffles me
The Wrestler A can't draw thing is what some people use as a cheep way to win an argument about why said wrestler isn't good enough to be in his spot. If you don't like a wrestler because of his ring work or mic skills thats fine, but unless you are a stock holder why should drawing power matter.
Opinions are like assholes, everybody's got one.

And some ARE assholes trying to convey said opinions.

I honestly don't think I've come across anyone that has used the drawing thing as excuse to prefer one wrestler over another. They will bash somebody and use their drawing skills against them if it can come in handy, but never as reason to think Wrestler A sucks.
Because we are all a bunch of sad, sad people that don't know how to state an opinion without trying to look "smart"
I think the business side of wrestling is really really interesting.

On the same note I don't think people really understand the business side of wrestling either.

Good question OP! I've been meaning to ask the same one for a while now. Mainly around the "Wrestler A can't draw".

It's strange and just makes me think the fan is on the WWE payroll.

I've always thought it was people trying to show how smart they are (and failing) because they read Meltzers stuff and he talks about drawing a fair bit.
Because Buy Rates is really going to go far. I can see him being a big star, maybe feuding with Big Draw.

Mods are overrated. Gold names ftw.

To the op: Primarily I care about who entertains me more, but when it comes to drawing it does help give insight as to whether someone is catching on and if they're going to have a strong run in the main event. Not so much it matters to me as it's just a nice (albeit only a small) indicator of what could possibly come.

As far as one wrestling putting over another... I could give a shit less personally, though that is the way to get over younger stars.
Being a wrestling fan i am interested in the inner workings of the business, it's basic curiosity.
There is however no way for me to know which wrestler draws and which doesn't, other than crowd reaction on a live show.
Bashing wrestlers with the drawing argument is just stupid, some people could really use a dose of humility when it comes to talking about the business.
