Seriously. I keep seeing people talking about how he's so under-pushed and how he's one of the guys they need to get behind. Am I missing something?
In less than two years on the main roster he's had: a clean win over Cena, two US title reigns, two IC title reigns and a six month UC title reign. He's also put Jericho out of action for at least a few months. He was even protected massively in his big 'burial'. Not bad for someone whose 'under-pushed'

This guy is one Triple H's favourite sons and he will always be taken care of. People just need to accept that their favourite indy guy is getting loads of opportunities. His push is comparable to Rollins' or Balor's but you'd never see people moaning because the WWE "aren't getting behind" them.

I think some of it stems from hist UC title win happening due to Balor's injury....which happened neciase of Reigns wellness failure. He's got the accolades but there are some valid posts out there the diminish them. He was pretty much seen as second fiddle to Jericho in a comedy act and he was champion. Then there's the fact that HHH literally handed him the title.

Not saying he isn't pushed. He is, but overall he's not as protected as you're making it out.

Owens marks are still salty that Goldberg mowed him over.. he's one of 2 people who even got to face him 1 on 1 & he lost to a distraction.. a month later he wins the US title twice.. his Universal title reign was (shit) long too :shrug

How many times has he been pinned clean in the past year?

Oh let's not forget he beat Cena in his FIRST match on the MR, he's always been fine

You forgot how they've protected the Pop Up Powerbomb since his call up. How many people have kicked out of that? There's also the fact they present his Apron Powerbomb as the ultimate neutralizer. I get what you're saying though, they act like their favorites are under-pushed to fit their anti-WWE, "I wanna be like CM Punk and go against the system" narrative so they select which parts of his career to acknowledge, which is usually the weaker parts.

IC Title wins? "He won them dirty! No credibility!" - Even though he's a fucking heel.
Universal Title win? "Triple H literally handed it to him!" Once again, he's a heel. Hell, both of them were heels!
Clean win over Cena? "Cena's just going to bury him the next two matches!" - Like they're incapable of soaking in one of the rare times WWE puts over a fresh new talent at the expense of Cena.

I think he's doing well. My only complaint was having him lose to Oldberg the way he did. If they were going to have him drop the title to the old fuck then it could have been an actual match. Not a running hug and lifting him in the air for the 1-2-3 in under a minute. That just made both Owens and the title look bad in the process.

Plus, they could have booked him to look stronger during his Universal title reign but I guess I've seen weaker looking heel champions in the past, so it's not that big of a deal.

I still wouldn't say he's one of the most pushed, but he's doing well for himself having won the NXT title, IC title (Twice), Universal title, and now the US title (Twice) in a 2 year time frame. On paper, it looks like he's one of the most pushed. But I'd have to disagree with the way he's booked to win most of his matches. Should be a bit more of a dominant heel.

I knew there is someone going to do this thread because I realized that he can't stay out of titles picture.

Kevin is actually entertaining and have something to give for the fans and I don't have a problem with that ,I will go far and say he deserved the main event spot with Chris Jericho because they were the most entertaining part of WWE last year.

He also doesn't take spots from anyone.

The only person Owens can't get one over on is Dean Ambrose :D

But seriously, Owens is pretty pushed. He constantly gets TV time every week, he always seems to have a championship of some sort, he was the first person to get a proper run with a new championship and he only lost the Universal Championship cos Jericho distracted him. He's quite protected.

I think people use Reigns as a measuring stick for everyone on the roster. Why they would do that, I don't know.

That's what annoys me most. Everyone expected Goldberg to squash him normally but he actually got protected and they still had a meltdown over it.

They are complaining about his booking becauae he has no Prize Fighter persona.

Personally, Owens is overpushed. He does not belong in world title matches or with a world title around his wait. He lacks the IT factor.

I don't know who thinks he's not one of the most pushed people on the roster, but you could always push him harder. Many people think Kevin Owens is THE most entertaining person on the roster and when you have that kind of a personality, people are always going to be striving for something better. Nobody considers US or IC title runs as anything special.

I wouldn't compare his push to Rollins at all. Rollins push is almost at Reigns level.

Right now, I would say this is the pecking order. Discounting Jinder and Nakamura because we can't get a proper handle on their pushes. They could either be permanent main eventers or they could end up like JBL and Miz after their title runs were over, it's too soon to say.

1 - Lesnar
2 - Reigns
3 - Rollins
4 - Cena
5 - Orton
6 - Balor
7 - Strowman
8 - Styles
9 - Owens

That's 8 people in the company that, at least in my opinion are more heavily prioritized over Owens. Sure, that isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things, but he should be so much higher than everybody else on that list. If you want to argue about Cena or Styles then go ahead but the other ones I'm just gonna call bullshit on. There's no reason that a guy with that level of promo should ever be beneath the top 5, especially when he can effortlessly switch between comedy and cold blooded killer at the drop of a hat.

I think people are tired of the chickenshit heel.

No one sees credibility when you're always running away. And that's what happened all the way through Owens's UC reign. People complained that he was booked badly because he never went over someone clean. Always had interference from Jericho in some way or another. Granted, he is a heel so heel tactics should be employed IMO. But when you need an assist from someone in all your matches... eventually that gets stale.

Put Strowman as number 2 instead and I'd say its pretty damn accurate. I'm not sure that Styles is above Owens though. And Cena and Orton's placement can be anywhere above Styles and since Styles can be anywhere its a bit hard to gauge them.

Its this weird thing that a lot of big Indy fans seem to do; they love to pretend that no "Indy guys" ever get pushed in WWE and its only the look that gets pushed. That of course is a huge fallacy. I geuss it goes with the indy crowd/fanbase still feeling like they're underground/anti-establishment.

I mena look at the recent crop of World Champs in WWE. Yes we've had Brock, Goldberg, Orton, Jinder, Cena, Reigns, Wyatt and Sheamus; more typical WWE guys. But we've also had Balor, Owens, Ambrose, Rollins, Styles and Bryan as World Champions in WWE.

Balor got the biggest rocket push in wrestling history, where he was a World Champ within a month of his main roster debut. Ambrose and Rollins have been heavily pushed and protected from day one, getting wins over every Main Eventer in WWE in their debut year. And Ambrose never loses clean. Styles had the best debut year of any wrestler in WWE since Brock Lesnar and decade and a half ago. And Kevin Owens himself debuted with a win over Cena. Racked up some midcard belts, was generally treated as being a big deal and better than almost everyone else. Got a World Title run, and in that Universal Title reign he the heel lost to Goldberg the babyface in dirty fashion.

There's an issue with Kevin Owens and thats that most of his fans think his Indy gimmick should be him in WWE. But thats ridiculous, he's short and fat, he cant play a destroyer of worlds ultimate badass heel in a company that has people like Lesnar, Strowman, Corbin, Kane, Show, Cena, Rusev, Reigns etc. KO's ultimate badass gimmick worked in the indies where he was taller than almost everyone else, but in WWE he's just average height with a shit physique. It would look ridiculous if he's in the ring going to toe to toe with a guy like Strowman and beating him down and throwing him around.

I think KO has been one of the best success stories coming up from NXT.

His feud with Cena for one was one of the best things John Cena had been involved in for years. He got a match with Goldberg which I'm sure KO himself was pretty thrilled about too and has had plenty of championship reigns.

The only thing I've had a problem with is that character wise too many silly "cowardly heel" moments on the main roster that made him look stupid.

From what I've seen, alot of people wanted him pushed like he was in his first month on an ongoing basis / the character he was in NXT.

In regards to the booking,
Owens isn't the right talent to be pushed as a monster who's presented on that Cena (and now Roman) level. He doesn't have the presence, look or physicality for it. Strowman is now getting that kind if treatment and is clearly a 10x better fit.
And 90% of wrestlers look better in their debut 6 months than they do down the line.

In regards to people wanting his NXT character back (and apparantally meaning a monster heel), his whole gimmick was choosing his moments and picking his fights. I really don't see where people got the impression that beating down a 200lb soaking wet Sami Zayne after repeated sneak attacks made him a monster. If anything, it was quite like Edge's ultimate opportunist match.

I don't get the obsession myself, he's the most consistently overrated talent on WF. Decent in the ring but has no idea how to wrestle his character, looks like an average guy and there's people who seem to think he's the best mic worker in the company.... Even after Jericho vastly outperformed him everyday for months.
