Starrcade was WCW's version of WrestleMania. It also happened to occur at the end of the year. What better way to end the year with a PPV that means something?

Because it's still awful when compared to "Armageddon".

Plus, Armageddon did mean something. You knew that Buried Alive, Inferno, Last Ride and/or Hell in a Cell matches were about to go down.

Because this is WWE and not WCW, nothing against Starrcade but it's better to segmentate them.

it was still a landmark time of year for the industry, one that wwe can take advantage of

like November 2 Remember, Superbrawl, Heatwave, Uncensored and Slamboree

And that's exactly why they didn't keep it around.
