Out of curiosity is their any story behind the reason why back in 2005 Vince choose to have Cena jump over to Raw to become the "face of the company" over Batista who was sent to Smackdown?

Cena was younger and probably meant to be a top guy from the beginning. Batista seemed to just be filling in Orton's intended role at the time.

Cena's better at pro-wrestling than Batista.

Cena had more promise and potential as he's more talented and was the bigger mainstream draw. And by then Cena feuded with everyone there is in Smackdown and there's no more left for him creative wise

Cena's better in the ring, has got more charisma and most of all is a WAAAAAAYYY better promo.

Cena is also white, American, more loyal to the company, safer to work with, more resilient and doesn't have a tattoo around his belly button.

Heck there's a shit ton of reasons to choose Cena over Batista, how long do you've got?

Cena was younger, it was an easy decision.

Vince wanted Cena and Orton to be the top guys from the start. Batista got the push against HHH over Orton because the fans wanted it so Vince had to go with him instead. Back then Vince listened to his audience.

Cena was much easier to work with. He was also younger and much more of a complete package.

Technically - they had Batista win the Rumble over Cena that year when they were both being pushed to mania.

Despite Batista getting the initial, bigger push - they ended up reverting to Cena. Why? Likely because he proved he was better/more capable than Batista

Popularity and merch.

Ignore all the Anti Cena stuff and think/look back at WWE at that time. Cena wasn't actually a chosen one, but he got so over and was making the WWE so much money that Vince had no choice to get behind him. They butchered the Cena character that got over mind you, but still.
