Muhammad Ali or Michael Jordon? I know a lot of people, mostly American, tend to argue that Jordan is as big or bigger than Ali. For me, it's Ali. I'm a 21 year old from England, and I've heard about Ali for as long as I can remember. He's the biggest name in the history of sport. You could say his name anywhere in the world and people would know who he is, regardless of age.

Some americans seem to think that they are the only country in the world (sorry, but it's true). Some say that American Football is bigger than proper football, which is a load of BS. Muhammad Ali is more known outside of the US i reckon, so globally i'd say Ali.

Don't disagree with the whole basis of the post, but Michael Jordan is a household name. People who don't watch basketball knows who he is very well.

Tough call. None of the kids under 16 that I have met had any idea who Ali is (they knew Mike Tyson though weird huh?) and of course they knew Michael Jordan. People my age (around 20) and older ones probably know Ali better but it's a really hard call, I'm gonna go with Ali.

Of course Michael Jordon is a household name. He's one of the most famous Basketball players ever, but i'd still say that Ali is more known globally.

I just brought the US part up because people will say "MJ is bigger in the US" or something along those lines, so according to them, he's the bigger star. The bigger star is the one who is more well known globally (Y)

I guarentee if I asked my grandparents who MJ was, they wouldn't have a clue. That's what makes Ali so special, people who don't know shit about boxing can tell you about Ali because he was much more than a sportsman. Jordon was simply a basketball player in comparison.

Inside America you'd probably hear Jordan. Outside of America you'll probably hear Ali tbh. Both are pretty much household names in their own rights and known globally but yeah I'd give the edge to Ali on this one.

Jordan and Ali are both from America so what's your point?

Ali, no question.

Even some people who know Jordan will only know his face from Nike adverts or Space Jam but won't know who he is. I guarantee not only do more people know who Ali is, but a larger percentage know WHO he is too.

Plus after his MLB stint, I'm sure many people who knew Jordan tried to forget him :p

Ali by a country mile.

Jordan is a huge name too TBF but I think Ali's name is probably known on every continent and in every corner of the world. He is without doubt the biggest sports personality ever IMO.
