Who would you choose to be world champion?

Miz 2011:
Arguably his peak year
Bona fide WM Main Eventer
Hot and fresh from his WWE title reign
Top heel in the company
Only competing with Cena, Del Rio, Punk to some extent

Miz 2017:
Best heel in the company
One of the best current mic workers
Still has momentum from 2016
BUT has lower ceiling because of jobbing from 2014-2016
Competing with the likes of Lesnar, Shield, Balor, STROWMAN, Wyatt, Joe

CM Punk 2011 and AJ Styles 2017

:D

I kid.. I found Miz unwatchable until this year, so my answer's pretty obvious, 2017 without a shadow of a doubt

2017 & not even close. Couldn't stand him in his early few years, 2011 included, & skipped over most of his segments. No interest in watching him. Though that wasn't *all* his fault, there was zero chance I was spending my time listening to that god awful heel Cole stuff which was amplified around the Miz.

The last couple years though he's really grown on me. His general shtick is still the same, but it seems more refined & improved upon. Some of his segments have genuinely been *must see*, and as a lifelong Miz hater (So I thought) that's something I never thought I'd say. He offers something different that no other heel has these days, so he deserves a spot at the top of the card for that alone. He's simply more entertaining than most, but still enough of an asshole to stay an actual heel with it. It also makes him stand out more that the rest of the roster/the booking is even less interesting to me these days, but either way he's still doing his job well.

What's the difference? He's great talent in either instance.

He's much more respected, skilled and deserving of a title run now than he was in 2011.
He could actually draw as the champ now.
He is the most fully developed character they have in the entire company.

2017

Miz is arguably the best full time all-arounder on the roster now. He was good then too. But is even more polished now.

2011.

He earned his push to main event like everyone here ask a talent to do it:

- Build his credibility on the midcard.
- Gave credibility to his midcard title reigns.
- Make his storylines interesting.
- Became one of the highlights of RAW.
- Was used to elevate the guys the company wanted to push in NXT: Daniel Bryan and Alex Riley.
- When he finally cashed the MITB briefcase he was already one of the most important acts on the company.
- And most important of it all is that unlike CM Punk or Daniel Bryan the company was never forced to book a clean win over John Cena to elevate him to the main event.

Also as champion he and The Rock had a good interaction.

Too bad WWE throw it all away to push that hack named Alex Riley, and the failed Summer of Punk.

Miz 2017.

He is the only wrestler on the roster who gets the correct reactions based on who he is playing. He's also very underrated in the ring.

Zayn- "Hey my character is really over in the indies"
WWE- "You have a new gimmick"
Finn Bàlor- "I'm a really good heel"
WWE- "You're gonna be a baby-face"
Nakamura- "I'm the king of strong style"
WWE- "Work a softer style"
Ambrose- "I'm a deathmatch veteran and the most sick, sadistic and vile character in wrestling today"
WWE- "We're gonna call you a lunitic and you're gonna do comedy skits"

Probably neither. I fell for The Miz in 2011, but I was a bit more naive then. The Miz is a great mid-card act. He doesn't need to be forced somewhere he doesn't belong.
