Who will Daniel Bryan face?

2476 Views 42 Replies 31 Participants Last post by  CM Sean
I recently combed through all of the WWE PPV's from Summerslam 2010-Royal Rumble 2011 and Daniel Bryan stole the show in almost every one. He unexpectedly kicked ass in Summerslam, had high quality matches with Miz, Ziggler and Dibiase, and made his Rumble appearance memorable. He should and likely will participate in a lengthly match at Wrestlemania XXVII and I'm betting it will be the match of the night. The question is - who should he face?

I'm hoping Chris Jericho signs back with WWE and challenges him for the United States Championship. Mister Hands brought up a great point in a thread I created a few days ago on what Jericho could do at Wrestlemania should he make it back in time, which was that Jericho, with all of his accomplishments, has never held the US Title. Simple set-up, could even open the show (and possibly steal it).

If that's off the table, I think I'd like to see Jack Swagger jump to Raw in the build-up to Wrestlemania to feud with Bryan over the United States Championship. The All American American chasing the US Championship, it writes itself, and the match would be good, as the Old School Raw showed us. Again, it would be an ideal opener at Wrestlemania.

Don't see Cody Rhodes being an option, since he's probably set to wrestle Mysterio at Wrestlemania.

However, if they actually go with William Regal, I'd be very happy. I don't see it happening myself, but if it did, I'd have a huge grin on my face.

When Bryan saved King on RAW tonight I secretly hoped they were sowing the seeds for a Miz/Bryan WWE championship bout but I'm not holding my breath.
Maybe they are. For Wrestlemania 30. :)

What a waste that would be, though. Bryan needs a singles wrestling match at Wrestlemania (or at least a match that is over his championship even if it's a triple threat/fatal fourway or something like that) and WWE creative needs to remind us that he's the United States Champion. It's Miz as US Champion all over again, except with better matches, sillier storylines and almost no promos. Yeah, never mind.

I'd rather he be in the MITB than facing guys like DiBiase & Tyson, at that point we're just begging for a title defense at the ppv.

him vs. either guy is barely ppv worthy, let alone WM worthy.
Well, I agree that neither match there is Wrestlemania-worthy. They'd need somebody of at least decent stature to go up against Bryan at Wrestlemania. Besides, they've worn out the DiBiase/Bryan match-up, that's not happening at Wrestlemania unless they're really stupid. Oh, wait. But, seriously--and they've made Tyson Kidd into a joke ever since they appeared willing to push him a while back.

Of the people on the active roster, which obviously precludes Jericho, my favorite picks would be William Regal or Jack Swagger. But at the rate the Raw writers are going, Sheamus will be at US Championship level in three weeks, maybe even him and Morrison with Bryan like Mister Hands says.

Jack Swagger would be an awesome choice if they'd give him the IC belt before WM. Giving Kofi the MITB would make so much sense at that point.

IDEA STORM: US vs IC belt match, fought to a 15-minute time limit draw because neither man wants to lose their brand's belt. Not sure if a non-finish is a good idea at WM, but it'd make each title look damn important.
My original idea for a solid month or much longer now has been Swagger vs. Bryan as the opener of the show, IC vs. US Champion, and I'd been drifting away from it because they seem so reluctant to continue the Swagger/Kofi feud from last month right now. Have Kofi drop the belt to Swagger ASAP (Del Rio can be the man responsible), have Del Rio go over Kofi at EC, book champion vs. champion, Swagger/Bryan, for Wrestlemania, have Kofi at least put on great showing in the MITB match, if not win.

Never thought up the time limit draw idea, though. :)

What about a 4-way?

Title Unification Match
Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Jack Swagger
Plus;

WITH ROCK;
Rock vs Cena
Miz vs. Morrison
Del Rio vs. Edge (vs. Ziggler)
Taker vs. HHH w/ HBK
Rey vs. Cody
MITB
TAG TITLE
DIVA

WITHOUT ROCK
Cena vs Miz
Del Rio vs. Edge (vs. Christian/Ziggler?)
Taker vs. HHH w/ HBK
Rey vs. Cody
Sheamus vs. Morrison
MITB
TAG TITLE
DIVA
All very possible, honestly. (Though Ziggler/Christian aren't going to be thrown into the WHC match at Wrestlemania, their most probable destination is MITB.)

I most want to see Swagger/Bryan to open up the show and be given at least 12, maybe even 15 minutes, though.
