Let's assume you woke up tomorrow morning, nothing would turn on, run, etc. Then you read in the local newspaper that they can't get the power back on. It goes on like this forever. What would you do? Read books all day? Go nuts?

People in this day and age are too reliant on things. People could easily live without electricity. Problem is, none of us have ever lived without it, so we assume the world would end if we didn't have it.

They coped back then without it (I am talking about things like lights, computers, television, etc.), we can do the same. Being hand fed all these 'luxuries' makes people scared of living without them.

Problem with this scenario is that there would be mass panic, looting, & ultimately violence. Hospitals with patients that are directly reliant completely reliant on vital machinery in order to stay alive would be the first victims once the back up generators (gas) run out. If all electrical equipment ceases to function, then there will be a number of air traffic tragedies that would inevitably lead to mass casualties.

A more dire situation would be an airburst generating a strong EMP wave, hitting a country or the Nantucket series premise: Electricity & all combustible energy based things cease to function permanently. So much worse than just electricity, no guns, cars, missiles, etc.

Actually made you think when you see people having to relearn agricultural skills, archery, forging, etc.

I didn't have power at my house for 2 days one time. Worst experience ever: taking a shit in the dark, everything in the fridge was warm, no access to the internet. Ugh, disgusts me just to think about it. To not have electricity anymore would cause me to go insane.
