In your mind what seperates a Hardcore fan and a Casual fan of wrestling?

To me:

Hardcore fan: Has a genuine passion for wrestling and watches it every/most weeks and will stand by watching it against all criticsms form others. They do not have to know the ins and outs of the business, and do no have to understand every little detail in a match.

Casual fan: Watches it but doesn't get as emotionally connected like a Hardcore fan would. It's simply another thing to watch on TV to them rather than being the main focus of their attention.

Casual fan says: "I watch to see my favorite wrestlers win"

Hardcore fan says: "I watch to see my favorite wrestlers put on a great match"

Obviously there's overlap, but that's what I tend to notice... casuals are watching a tv show, hardcores are watching a performance.

A casual fan enjoys the show the way it is
A hardcore fan always wants the show to change no matrter how good that is
Or maybe thats just 90 percent of the IWC

What I feel seperates me , a hardcore fan , from my friend who is a casual fan is the enjoyment I get from the little things , as stupid as it sound wwe is on my mind AT LEAST TWO HOURS A DAY , .
Its almost like an addiction to the hardcore fan .
There is a saying with football that goes " its more than just a game " .
For me wrestling is more than just a tv show.

Hardcore fans would make up something completely sad like the "IWC". Yeah, I said it.

So basicly there are no Hardcore fans without internet is what most are saying?

Hardcore is someone who actually watches the show and has it as a "must watch" every week, other than something that just came off from zapping looking for background noise when you go on the internet.

As it is now?

Hardcore fans stream the product and illegally download pay per views (myself included)

Casual fans actually pay for it.
I would think it is the other way around.

Hardcore fan watches everything, subscribes to a bunch of newsletters and buys everything.

btw
what's with this idea that you need the internet to be a hardcore fan?

An overinflated sense of their own opinion.
Your damn right.

I would think it is the other way around.

You would think so, and they do watch everything... the Hardcores also know how to watch it all for free. Casuals just pay for it for the convienence.

Hardcore wrestling fans watch wrestling no matter how bad the product might be, how much of a dry spell the industry might be in, or how much mainstream popularity or criticism it gets.

Still think the hardcore fan buys stuff.
"got to support the indys, got to keep my PPV collection up to date with 3 copies of the same royal rumble one from the anthology one from the DVD and a blu-ray copy"

I know in my experience, I'm hardcore and I've bought... maybe ONE indy anything? The only thing I pay for is going to shows live.

Gonna compare this to porn.
Everyone knows you can get this shit for free. It's the real addicts that go out of their way to buy stuff and collect go the conventions etc.
In normal cases, you'd be right... but all my casual wrestling fans are ASTOUNDED when I tell them I stream the pay per views.

Wrestling is wacky like that.

It's quite simple - hardcore fans obsess on what they are a fan of - reading insider news, talking about it on forums, never missing the show, buying merchandise and just generally being full on fanboys.

Casual fans switch it on and can enjoy it but aren't that emotionally invested in it.
