Just curious. I remember hearing about the beginnings of TNA, but not ROH. What was what put them on the map?

Any specific moment, match or ppv?
I was watching and following ROH till they lost their tv deal so destination america for me put ROH on the map for me, I don't get comet tv in hammond indiana .

The buzz from the Punk-Joe trilogy, specifically the one (second match?) that got 5-stars from Meltzer. I assume that's how the next wave of internet fans took notice. I'd say that was the first thing to put ROH on the map.

Eddie Guerrero having a quick stop in ROH before returning to WWE in 2002 probably did a little something. After that, Punk threatening to take the World Title to WWE when he signed, Lance Storm coming out of retirement to face Danielson for the title in 2006 and guys like Joe, Punk and Bryan becoming successes in WWE and TNA, leading to fans unfamiliar with ROH learning about the company after looking through those guys' history.

Amazing talent from the very beginning and Abe Sapolsky was just a fantastic booker. I am fortunate to have all of Gabe's shows and they definitely deserve yet another rewatch. The success of guys like Punk, Bryan, and Joe, just to name a few, on the national stage also drew attention to ROH where they all had stellar runs.
