Yeah, some of them have a first and last name, but it seems like with most the WWE only bothers to give them a single name. Is their a reason behind this? With most of their male talent they give them a first and last name, so why is it different for the women?

Anyone know?

A decent number of them have last names, but don't use them or dropped them. :/

I don't know but I'd hate to have only a first name. I can't help but take Divas more seriously if they have a first and last name (unless they prove themselves. There are some exceptions of course.) They just sound cooler with last names but I guess the people in charge think it sounds cute or sexy if they only have one name. But, don't people get a say in what they're called in WWE?

Yeah, you actually hear Tamina, Nikki, Brie, Alicia, AJ, Eva Marie and to some degree Natalya mentioned often.

Naomi and Cameron probably because they're together and not related that it's easier to just use their single names, some it just suits better, Kaitlyn was another.

Add to this Rosa Mendes and Summer Rae. Really Paige,Emma, and Aksana are the only ones with no last names.

They only deserve a first name.

If you wanna compare how many Divas only have one name as opposed to Superstars, here's a list. Let's define one-name as in the name they're given when announced to the ring. Here's a look at the current active roster per WWE.com

One-name Divas
- Emma
- Paige
- Aksana
- Cameron
- Naomi
- Lana
- Layla
- Natalya

One-name Superstars
- Batista
- Camacho
- Christian
- Cesaro
- Diego
- Fernando
- Fandango
- Goldust
- Hunico
- Hornswoggle
- Kane
- Ryback
- Sheamus
- The Miz(?)
- The Undertaker(?)
- Big E(?)
- JTG(?)

While there are more Superstars than Divas who are announced with one name, perhaps it seems like more Divas have single-names because there are so fewer of them than Superstars. In that case, let's take a look at it within each population.

8/17 (47%) Divas are announced as having only one name.
17/68 (25%) Superstars announced as having only one name.

Then, yes, statistically, on the active roster, there is a higher percentage of Divas with single-ring names than there is Superstars.

I remember they took AJ's Lee away when she was on NXT in 2010, and gave it back to her when she was on Smackdown around 2011 or 2012. I think Natayla used to be called Natayla Neidhart when she first debuted, and Naomi used to Naomi Knight.

Layla, Naomi, Natalya, and Cameron all technically have last names.

Lol does Cesaro count, technically all he is is a last name.

Seems like creative just isn't all that creative when it comes to diva names. At least if you are going to continue giving future Divas just one name, make it something exotic sounding and stop using these common everyday names (Emma, Paige). Both women would have been better using their real life names.
