The end of a group of superstars who defined the attitude era. HBK, HHH and Undertaker are all nearing the end of their in-ring careers. Rock and Cena was more an old era vs new era kind of fued.
Yes, basically the fact that the last established and legendary remnants of the mid 90's and attitude era are almost done in terms of their in ring careers. Even the Rock will probably appear on a part time basis for the next couple of years but then eventually step away from wrestling completely.
I think Taker will be back for one last match though, most likely against Cena next year at Mania.
In actuality, probably just a tagline to persuade people who were on the fence about ordering Mania by adding the implication that it would be Taker's last match. They never outright said it, because it probably won't be, they just implied it.
As much as I'm against Taker coming back for 21, WWE would be crazy to pass up the idea of a Cena/Taker Streak match. The amount of money a Rock vs Brock Lesnar, a John Cena vs Undertaker and an Austin vs CM Punk triple main event card could produce would be absolutely, astronomically INSANE.
I don't see Kane, Show and Henry lasting much longer either. Rock will be around from time to time as will Jericho as they can still go. The WWE badly needs some new stars and they need to start building them now before things go down the shitter. Barrett, Rhodes and Ziggler all look promising with Bryan, Punk and Sheamus holding down the fort just now. Then you have the younger talents who you can tell are gonna be big such as Rollins and Ambrose. In my opinion WWE needs another Wrestlemania 21 where they bring over stars by having them win the titles on the grandest stage of them all. Remember when Cena and Batista won their first world titles? Well thats how WWE have gotta do it with Ziggler, Rhodes and Barrett.
Actually, I'm assuming end of an era means the end of the whole feud between Taker/HBK & HHH, which has began about 15 years ago. They have headlined the past 4 WM's, so I assume it's over with. HHH will go back to the office, HBK will go back to his hunting show and Taker will be done after a WM match with Cena.
If Taker was retiring this year, that would have made no sense. A Taker retirement match should be announced ahead of time, possibly increasing the buyrate and should be the final match on the show. Honestly, his match this year with the hug on the stage should have been the final image of WM but since it was in Miami, they had to put Rocky last, which is why if he wrestles next year at Mania and it against Taker, I hope Taker sticks around for another 1 so he can be the main event.
I think it was just a tagline. Like Rock and Cena's "Once in a lifetime" or whatever. Are they going to keep the two of them away from each other until the next WM? Who knows?
2 of the 3 are done for sure. Obviously shawn but is a toss up between taker and hhh. I hope taker does away personally
