So, as we all know, WCW went out of business in 2001. But let's say, going back to around '97 (or perhaps beforehand), the WWF had gone out of business. In the fallout of the steroid trial it was certainly a possibility that the WWF could go bust, as well as around '97 when WCW where slaughtering them. Let's just say for the sake of this thread that one of the aforementioned incidents had caused the WWF to go out of business. So, WWF go out of business in the 90's and then WCW is let go by AOL Time Warner. What do you think would have happened to the wrestling industry? Do you think interest in the business would have declined without the Monday Night Wars in the late 90s? Would WCW have been picked up by somebody else? What would have happened to the industry without a major player in the early millennium?

Pro wrestling will always exist in some fashion. It may be just a bunch of small promotions wrestling in high school gyms but there will be pro wrestling somewhere. The only thing I fear is if pro wrestling gets to that point it will never be able to gain traction and get back to the prime time level again.
