Most people are aware that Smackdown got named due to The Rock's catch phrase "layeth the smackdown on all your candy asses".
But what if another popular phrase was chosen as the second show (keep in mind this way before there was ever a brand split). Smackdown was a show that featured everybody from Raw as well. It was the "Thunder" to Raw's "Nitro".
Surely though now that Smackdown has been around for ten plus years there were other names that they could have called it. I love the name Smackdown but I always wondered what else they could have called it.
In 1999 Smackdown was a random name. We didn't think of it in terms of being its only separate entity in WWE and when you consider that the guy it was named after hasn't been a regular on the show in nearly ten years, I always thought it would be pretty funny to come up with other names for it and then try and imagine guys who basically made their legacies on Smackdown, still being a star or recognized as a star. Is the name of the show you come from important? Let's find out…so let's take some wrestlers of today and put them in scenarios and see if they would work.
Also how many clever ones we can think of whether it be names coming from finishers or slogans, the more examples you give and the more you say it.. ironically the better sounding it gets an sticks.
-Slobberknocker!-
Zach Ryder: This Friday Night on Slobberknocker the general manager will be the Internet Champion. Woo Woo Woo.
Vickie Guerrero: Dolph. I just talked to the board of directors. And this week on Slobberknocker you'll get a world heavyweight championship match with Sheamus.
Michael Cole: And here comes Jack Swagger entering the royal number at number 12. Jack Swagger is a Slobberknocker Superstar.
John Lauranitias: and I am the general manager of both Raw and Slobberknocker!
Jerry Lawler: Brodus Clay is now an exclusive Slobberknocker superstar Cole.
Booker T: Time for my Slobberknocker face 5.
WWE Voice: And now… Raw and Slobberknocker present to you.. Wrestlemania 28!
