In the late 90's, we had King and WCW had Heenan. In the early 2000's, we had Tazz and Heyman. In 2010, it became Michael Cole. Right now, we don't have an obvious heel commentator. Some people will say JBL, but I see him more as a tweener. There isn't anyone on the commentary team who blatantly skews facts and goes out of their way to bash the faces. Would you guys like to see more of that, or are you ok with JBL's little one liners?

Vince thinks that a heel commentator will persuade some of the herd that watches his programming to cheer for the heel (as if that doesn't already happen with alarming regularity with two face commentators and an ambivalent one). Similarly, he wants all his angelic faces to smile on their way out of the ring if they've lost or was beat up so the emotional candles that watch his programming don't try to kill themselves....or something.

It died when Lawler turned face. Cole's run was horrible and JBL can be good at times but then starts to suck up to Cena? You wouldn't see the Body or the Brain sucking up to Hogan, nor would you see King suck up to Austin in the 90's. Its a joke.

Ryback at this point is pretty much better than all 3 of the commentators combined lol. If they re-hired Matt Striker, and paired these 2 up, I think they'd actually be on to something

Lawler was fucking quality when he was a heel commentator, absolute garbage as a face.

JBL does play the heel role though so it isn't as if it has died. Often sticks up for the heel, and to be fair he calls out Cole on double standards when Cole makes out it is okay for a face to do something but not a heel.

I agree, yes there should be a guy who favours the heels slightly. But its not black and white like it used to be and thats for the better
