First and foremost, there's NO WAY I can know how many hours I've spent on games like SMW, SMB3, Street Fighter 2, Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie, the PS2 era PES games, Smackdown vs. Raw 2006, Smackdown Here Comes the Pain, Sonic 1 and 2, Mega Man 2, Sim City, etc. all my life. Back then it was very rare for a game to keep track of the time you spent in it.

The platforms that have the most detailed info about this that I have are the Nintendo 3DS and Steam, so afaik, these are the games that, as of today, I've put the most hours into in my life:

1. Football Manager 2011: 16 days and 51 minutes. Which means about 384-385 hours. FM games are big time sinkers, man. And this isn't that impressive considering most of the biggest FM fans I know seem to spend 500-600 hours per game on average.

2. Animal Crossing: New Leaf: 289 hours and 11 minutes. This game is almost like a second life. So much to do and things happen in real time and the weather and other things change according to the season. You don't really notice the time going by as you play this game.

3. Sid Meier's Civilization V: 190 hours. And I've only seriously played this one for like 2-3 months. Fucking Civ, man. JUST ONE MORE TURN.

4. Ultra Street Fighter IV: 159 hours. This was the first fighting game that I played online and the one I played the most online by far. Hence why 159 hours.

5. Super Smash Bros. Melee: I forgot exactly how many hours I spent on this one and don't feel like pulling out the GC to check it now, but I definitely went over 100 and less than 150. I'm gonna say between 108 and 113 hours.

Honourable mentions:

Adventure Capitalist: 103 hours... yes, I spent 103 hours on a clicker game.

Pokémon Omega Ruby: 95 hours and 14 minutes. So many Pokémon to catch here and plus there's a bit of a post game and you gotta beat the Elite Four twice. No, I don't hunt for shinies nor do I play online.

Dragon Quest VIII: About 91 hours iirc. This game is massive. Bigger than it looks.

What about you?

Smackdown Shut Your Mouth - Smackdown Vs RAW 2008 the most by far.

With Tekken Games coming in at a distant second.

Resident Evil, Tony Hawk Games, Overwatch all follow.

But nothing tops the Smackdown games in length. I probably played Shut your Mouth the most.

I have no idea how much time I spent on Tekken 5 and the THQ WWE games. SD vs. Raw 2006 tracked the amount of matches you played and the average time of them. Iirc my average match on SvR 2006 lasted for 5-6 minutes, but my longest match went for like an hour long(prolly an ironman match or something). And I don't remember how many matches I've played nearly 1000 matches on that game since 2005. And the game doesn't keep track of how much time you spent listening to music(pre-youtube I had no other way of listening to the wrestlers songs other than in the CAW mode.), making CAWs, playing the GM mode, etc. I must, at least, have spent 75 hours on that game.

Civilization IV. No idea how long, but I definitely wasted days on it :lol

And all the Pokemon games, lol.

EDIT: I forgot about Civ II, I probably wasted even more time on that game than IV!

Also add Starcraft & Age Of Empires. Basically any strategy game tbh.

Final Fantasy VII and Super Mario RPG are games that I've replayed endlessly and continually went back to in order to find secrets and uncover every little thing. I've also spent a lot of time with Red Dead Redemption, playing through the single player mode and living in multiplayer to do everything I could.

It's either Halo 3 or Halo Reach. I think it might be Reach because I got hooked on the Invasion game mode that they came out with for that one.

For a single player game, Mass Effect 2, or Assassins Creed II. I still occasionally play them, although I've largely stopped, but I played them for about 5 years straight.

I've owned 3 to 4 distinct versions of Mass Effect 2 as well. I owned it on XBOX 360, I own the trilogy on a disc for PS3, and I own it digitally for PS3. There might be another but I don't think so. I've had numerous playthroughs of the whole game. I'll conservatively put it at around 500 hours.....but it's likely more than that. AC II, same thing, numerous playthroughs of the whole game, but Mass Effect 2 is a longer game than AC II, so I'll say Mass Effect 2 is still ahead.

The overall answer would probably be Injustice: Gods Among Us. Mortal Kombat X, or Injustice 2, because I love the NRS fighting games, and when they came out, I played them every single day, several hours at a time, for a year, maybe 2 years, then even after getting bored with them, I would go back to them intermittently. I was still playing Mortal Kombat X until the release of Mortal Kombat 11. The time adds up.

I spent hundreds of hours on NBA 2K, I played an entire 82 game season with 12 minute quarters in one Summer.

I spent 150 hours on Final Fantasy X across 2 playthroughs.

200 hours on Mass Effect Andromeda across 2 playthroughs.

Smackdown! Here Comes The Pain: Played this for years and years. I'd still play it if my PS2 wasn't unhooked and in a closet.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 (original): Fuck man I played this game on and off for like 7 years. It was the multiplayer and the community that kept bringing me back.

COD: Modern Warfare 2: This was my first FPS multiplayer game, played it to death for years and did about everything there was to do in it. Probably the only game that I likely clocked in over a 1000 hours into (I was 15 when it came out and I devoted that entire Summer playing this game daily and grinding).

Battlefield 1: One of my all-time favorite shooters, still play it to this day. I lean towards FPS games for multiplayer, and I have never played another that is as addicting as this one. Plus I'm a history nerd, and I think the entire WW1 theme is original and awesome. I've currently got 430 hours clocked in.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown/Within

For a long time it was my go-to game when I was listening to podcasts and I owned it across 3 platforms (PS3, PC, iPad).

I put a ton of hours in to the Mass Effect trilogy through multiple playthroughs as well.

Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare On my Xbox my playtime when I stopped was around 30 days (720 hours)...

However I then got a PC that could run it, and ended up joining a clan and I honestly don't want to know how many hours I spent on that game. Morning till night I was playing. We had an excellent server with good rules and it made it so much fun. I was totally addicted, still play it today.

Football Manager 2008 The best version, again I still play it if I feel like managing some soccer! I don't know how many hours because I had it on disc but a lot was spent here.

Eastside Hockey Manager 2007 Again, I lived on this game. I have no way of knowing but I lost of lot of time to this one. Great game, my favourite!
