Remember that creepy character in all white? If the wrestler didn't mess up and get the character dropped, how big of a push would mordecai have gotten?

The ceiling is dependent on the person playing the character. Thorn wasn't a good talker or worker so it's doubtful his ceiling was much higher than heidenreich or Adam bomb when all is said and done

The vignettes were awesome though, then again so we're the Nathan Jones ones

Better performer and the ceiling may have been high. Thorn got stage fright every time be went out in front of thousands didn't he?

I thought he did well as Mordecai. Seemed it was going well enough to me, but then they had him lose to Rey Mysterio and it all went to hell after that.

I have no idea what his ceiling could of been, but I do love going back and watching him destroy billy kidman and Akio for some reason, just looked like a beast right here.

The fact Fertig wasn't a very good wrestler, no mic skills and the charisma of a house Brick.

He was good as Kevin Thorn but Shelly Martinez was a big part of why. Once she got released, he lost all his charisma and didn't last very long after that.

He was still on the payroll 18 months after her release.

I liked the presentation of Mordecai. Didn't see enough of him in that character to properly assess his work- he only lasted a few weeks after his Judgment Day debut, didn't he?- but I thought he looked cool. All I remember is the vignettes and him looking good in a squash against Scotty 2 Hotty. What happened? They seemed to persist with people like Kenzo Suzuki, Heidenreich and Luther Reigns way longer, so he can't have been that bad. I know I really enjoyed his work as Kevin Thorn a couple of years later in ECW- although I freely admit 16 year old me was probably hypnotised by Ariel's ridiculous tits.

As for his ceiling? Going back to the Heidenreich example, if they let his clumsy, uncharismaric ass feud with Undertaker, I don't see why Mordecai couldn't have done the same as his character was intended. Put him in that spot, then depending on how he went, either upper midcard or fade into obscurity.

Did he do anything of relevance though once she was gone? I remember him just having random matches on ECW jobbing to other guys with no real direction.

He went back to OVW and FCW. Don't think he was used much after his new look on the main roster. But he wasn't released until 2009. I do remember him being in the 2008 Yearbook magazine though.

The character had a lot of potential, probably should've picked a better guy to play the character though....
