She's full of shit, obviously. The problem is, they can deflect any claims that they don't listen to their audience, because they can point to numbers and say "Roman Reigns is the highest merchandise seller. He's in demand, that's listening to our audience.", which is such a false statement, because the people buying the shirts are kids and people who've completely bought in to the indoctrination that WWE can't do any wrong, and those people would buy shirts for the top guy no matter who was in that position, plus the fact that if it was a better liked wrestler, they'd be doubled. They can claim that they're listening to their audience because Network numbers are good, and they'd be down if Roman Reigns wasn't working as the top guy, which is another obvious load of crap, because firstly, there's a whole roster of other guys people are paying to see wrestle, and secondly, a lot of people who have the Network only want the archives or NXT, they're not even watching the main product.

There's always a rationalization for the failure, and it's maddening that they can get away with it. Also, they do listen to their fans a little bit, just not in the way the fans want. If they center Raw entirely around Reigns, they'll make AJ Styles the champion on SmackDown, and claim that people wanted Styles on top, so they're letting him stay on top, all while deflecting the fact that it's on the B show, they've booked a bunch of unbelievably bad finishes, he never gets the main event spot, the WWE title has had limited screen time, and the feuds have gone on too long, and now they won't end the reign even though it's time.

She's right. She doesn't market new wrestlers because it takes effort into establishing them. So they market old, retired and outdated wrestlers who the fans assume are good based on reputation alone. She listened to the fact they just want someone to cheer for. And she gives it.

WWE just doesn't give the fans new material to desire.

Even AJ's biggest haters can admit to this..

That scene right there is why wwe does what it does. Take a good look at that and when you wonder why they don’t care about shrinking attendance or ratings, remember this. They keep guys like Cena & Roman at the forefront and pretend to care about a women’s division—all to the detriment of the popularity of wrestling—so that Stephanie can be a key note speaker at some conference and pretend to be a titan of industry.
