There was no top face for him to face, Rock went away to make a movie and there was no one else, If Rock had stayed Austin's heel turn wouldn't be looked at as a failure.

It is quite strange how the turned him heel, just as Rock was going away for a few months.

Especially considering that they had to book the Invasion angle after Wrestlemania and the original plan was for Triple H (before quad tear) to join WCW and Austin to turn back face to lead WWE.

The Two Man Power Trip, so glorious yet so brief. Seeing them with 4 belts between them was great.
This promo video brings a tear to my eye every time, I really do miss these good 'ol days, when Heels were Kings and thus giving birth to great credible fueds you gave a shit about.
