World Championship Wrestling has released a statement today stating that WCW President, Eric Bischoff has been demoted from his position and has been removed immediately from his position on the booking committee. The on-screen product has been tedious and stale for some time now and the decision has been made that now is the time for change. Eric Bischoff was not available to comment on the press release.

Rumours are flying around regarding the situation within WCW and the current state of who will be leading World Championship Wrestling behind the scenes. Eric Bischoff has not been seen or heard from since he was ousted as WCW President. Several names have been discussed as being the new head of creative – Kevin Nash, Terry Taylor, Ric Flair and even Hulk Hogan. The decision is still very much up in the air in regards to who will take charge but we could see the new direction of World Championship Wrestling sooner than you think.

The rumours circulating as of this morning are that WCW has come to an agreement with Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara of the WWF. These two writers are credited with the edgy 'Attitude Era' that is currently being seen on WWF screens. Vince Russo has been given a lot of credit internally for the rise of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Degeneration X as well as the rise of Mankind, The Rock among a host of others. The reason for the change you ask? Russo and Ferrara both requested pay rises due to the increase in work load that new show Smackdown has put on them. Vince McMahon has not made a decision whether new deals will be offered or whether the two writers will soon be jumping ship to the competition.

With WCW only six days away from Halloween Havoc an announcement has been made regarding the new creative team to take World Championship Wrestling forward. And to some it will come as a shock. Last week we announced that WCW were in discussions with Vince Russo and Ed Ferrara of the WWF, they were in discussions but the duo have agreed to re-sign new deals with the World Wrestling Federation.

So who does that leave to take the reigns of WCW, well it will be the team of Jerry Jarrett and John Laurinaitis. The two men were approached by WCW officials to bring a fresh and new look to the on-air product. John Laurinaitis who has been wrestling in Japan as Johnny Ace has decided to hang up his tights and is moving back to the U.S to take on a new role behind the camera. Laurinaitis has been helping to book shows for AJPW whilst on the Orient and WCW have seen something in him.

Jerry Jarrett is an experienced hand and has run/booked several promotions in the past including the USWA and WCCW. He has been in contact with several high up figures within WCW over the last few months and has been working in a consultant role which has seen him give his opinion on the direction of the company. Officials have said to have been impressed with Jarrett's approach and the ideas he has pitched.

The two men have now been given the task of turning around the fortunes of World Championship Wrestling and re-establishing the company as the number one wrestling company in the world. They have one Nitro and Thunder before we head to Halloween Havoc in six days. What can Jerry Jarrett and John Laurinaitis do to turn this sinking ship around? We will have to wait and find out...

I have fancied doing this time frame in WCW for some time now, I always thought this is a good challenge with an over-loaded roster. Early plans are in place for the next few Pay Per Views. Will get the roster and Nitro preview up in the coming days. Thanks for reading!

Preview for Monday Nitro October 18th 1999

With only six days left before WCW rolls in to Las Vegas, Nevada for Halloween Havoc, World Championship Wrestling comes live from Philadelphia, PA as they present three hours of non-stop action on Monday Nitro.

WCW World Heavyweight Champion Sting has been silent for nearly a month since he defeated Hulk Hogan at Fall Brawl. Sting's best friend Lex Luger had been stating for several weeks before Fall Brawl that Hulk Hogan had not changed and that he was not to be trusted. The WCW roster and fans have been waiting for Sting to speak for weeks now but the WCW Champion seems intent on keeping up his veil of silence. Will we see Sting finally come out and discuss why he assaulted Hulk Hogan with a baseball bat at the last pay per view?

Talking of Sting, what will Hulk Hogan have to say six days before he steps in to the ring to challenge for the WCW World Heavyweight Title? 'American Made' Hulk Hogan has requested time in the ring with Gene Okerlund on Monday night to discuss his up coming title match.

One half of the WCW World Tag Team Champions, Booker T of Harlem Heat will be taking on Rey Misterio Junior of the Filthy Animals one on one. Harlem Heat will meet Rey Misterio Jr and Konnan for the WCW Tag Titles in six days time. Which team will get the upper hand ahead of their title bout?

WCW U.S Heavyweight Champion 'Psycho' Sid Vicious has a major announcement regarding his match with Goldberg ahead of Halloween Havoc. Sid has promised that his statement on Nitro will shock the wrestling world to its core. What does the 'Master and Ruler' of the world have to say for himself?

All this and much more. The confirmed matches are shown below.

Matches set:

Booker T Vs Rey Misterio Jr

Bret 'The Hitman' Hart Vs Chris Kanyon

West Texas Rednecks (Barry & Kendall Windham) Vs The First Family (Hugh Morrus & Brian Knobs) with Jimmy Hart

Perry Saturn Vs Billy Kidman

Lash Leroux Vs Evan Karagias

Rick Steiner Vs Horace Hogan – T.V Title

With only six days to build towards Halloween Havoc, I have decided to stick with the general direction/angles as they were on T.V at the time. After the Pay Per View I will look to make some changes and push WCW in a different direction.
