Now that we see what ex-WWE talent has done in AEW for the past couple of years such as Jon Moxley, Keith Lee, Adam Cole, CM Punk* Tye Dillinger, Malakai Black, Toni Storm, Saraya, and so on.... Was Vince largely correct on where he stood in regards to these talents? None of them were pushed as top Stars aside from Punk and maybe Moxley, but even those two had issues with their booking. However, it appears none of these supposed game changers have really changed the game for AEW at all.

Absolutely. Almost all of these guys are form the same movement concept. Either a bunch of nerds from roh that never had that big wwe run for a reason or over rated nxt guys that had the same under dog bullshit movement. This Is what happens when there are no good wrestlers and fans are bored and and upport the loser that would never make it in another time. Also when the products just suck in general

of course there's some gems that changed since leaving. Reality is most of these people didn't even try to reinvent themselves. I do think FTR work in aew but would never break through on the main rooster. It also took them ages to get over in aew by actually rarely changing themselves.

Punk is the king of this bullshit. It's so frustrating that aew has basically turned into a parody of that generation. Tony is way over paying all of them.

Saraya/Paige is hard to tell seeing as she was young and injuries/scandals wrecked her career in WWE tbh.
This and its very likely had she avoided the injury she wouldn't been released, I mean they kept her on the books and tried to find stuff she could do for 4 years while being "retired" from ring action

He was right about not pushing a lot of people, but he was also wrong about pushing a lot of people. Most wrestlers suck. A lot of his decade long top guys suck. It doesn't make Vince a visionary to not push Keith Lee when he's also got Jinder Mahal, Jack Swagger, Great Khali, and tons of other clowns on his record including Jeff Hardy who has still not taken accountability for his actions.

Vince certainly would not push MJF, or Eddie Kingston, and he didn't push Christian or Samoa Joe, and only pushed Punk and Bryan because he was forced to, so it's not like he's understood or would understand any of the good AEW guys.

Bingo, forced too. All because the product sucks and fans were desperate to push under dogs to get behind ANYTHING. This is what that generation is. It's not even about Vince.

If they were over when he had them and he didnt book them accordingly, then no. He wasn’t.

There's several former WWE champions among that list. Why are Bryan Danielson and Samoa Joe not listed? Anyway, not every former WWE signing was brought in to be a headline act. AEW wanted to fill a roster that was very shallow early on because no one was available.

One guy I think WWE should never have let go is Swerve. He looks like a million bucks and just needs the right sort of branding and direction. Hit Row was DOA without him.

I'm also staggered that neither company figured out how to make money from Malakai Black. Probably the most unique-looking heel in the business, with a fun in-ring style and good enough promos.

IMO, AEW signed too many guys coming out of WWE/NXT in 2021~early 2022 and didn't know what to do with them all. He's hardly signed any former WWE mainstays in the past year on the men's side. AEW is best when it focuses on building up guys who are fresh on the US scene. I'd rather see Takeshita and Rush pushed than for them to sign John Morrison and Roddy Strong.

Jon Moxley got multiple opportunities in WWE. It's not like Vince didn't push him at all. He is a former WWE Champion. The guy, like many others, chose to exit WWE. If he stayed he probably would be in a decent position right now (if his health could have held up).

Saraya supposedly was offered to go back to WWE but she chose AEW. WWE made sure to keep her for a long time even though she couldn't wrestle.

Adam Cole was wanted in WWE by Vince but he chose to leave.

Keith Lee WWE missed the boat on. Period. The bearcat thing was silly.

Malakai Black I think could have done more in WWE.

I have ranted this in the past but like, it's weird how we sit here (or did before he went on his hiatus) bashing Vince for being out of touch but then when it comes to talking about ex-WWE guys in AEW we use Vince as the measuring stick as far as the potential in the wrestlers. Can't have it both ways.

Swerve for sure is needed in WWE now because Hit Row is lost without him. The group with swerve there had momentum on Smackdown before they all got released.

Plus I feel like there is this over expectations when AEW signs a former WWE wrestler. Like AEW is supposed to instantly jump high in the RaTiNgS any time they sign a Keith Lee or Jon Moxley. I feel like most of the former WWE talent signings in AEW has helped AEW in ways that weren't intended to be specifically to boost ratings or launch AEW in the stratosphere.

To many guys signed all with the same vibe and style. "What about me"

He was right about a lot of the guys HHH rehired too. Most have done nothing on the main roster since returning.

Jon Moxley chose to leave though. Vince definitely saw some star power in him, as he was pretty much always featured week to week. The last real memory of him I recall was doing the Shield reunion one last time.

They couldn’t beat the mud show out of him.

Of course he was right, however this forum for some reason will tell you otherwise. Keith Lee, Malakai Black, Andrade, Bryan, Adam Cole, Jeff, etc and pretty much every who went to AEW are either off TV or booked terribly. Let's not forget Miro who has talent. For some reason people who have never booked has more booking experience than a man who has been in the industry for over 4 decades.
