I still hear people saying it's a "charity run for Eddie's death", "cheesy underdog title run", and all that shit.
For me, looking back then up to now, it was a good title run that told some good storytelling. He was someone everyone of all ages can look up to. He might not be that dominant, but hey, he was able to beat JBL, Randy Orton, Angle and Booker T. At the end of the feud, Rey even pushed Chavo to Smackdown's uppercard.
And about his second title run, he deserved a longer reign, but Cena beat him on the same night he won the belt. And that was it.
You people need to realize that Rey was a credible champion all throughout.
