Vince Russo: Triple H and Stephanie got robbed of their inheritance by Vince McMahon

While speaking on Legion of RAW, Vince Russo explained how Triple H and Stephanie McMahon seemingly attempted to get McMahon out of the picture but failed.
"I'm being totally honest here. I feel horrible for them [Stephanie and Triple H]. I really do. But on the other side of the coin, you guys had to know Vince better than anybody knew him. And the way you played this hand was the worst way you could have possibly played this hand when you're voting for the guy not to come back to his own company. What do you think the payoff is going to be, bro?" [29:50 - 30:20]
Vince Russo explained that The Game and Stephanie might have waited a long time to get control of WWE, only to see Vince McMahon come back and reiterate their worst fears that he will never truly let them take over the company.
As noted by Russo, Triple H and his wife are unlikely to get their hands on WWE even after Vince McMahon dies, as they would then be working for Endeavor and its bosses.

I’m sure the 300m each of them got for the Endeavor deal could be used to wipe away some of those tears.

Right lol
Vince essentially gave them 20 years to prove that they were capable of taking over his multi-billion dollar business. They never did. HHH has no education or background that proves he would be able to fill such a large role and Stephanie Mcmahon has a bachelors degree in communication. Not saying degrees and school are everything, but they don't just hand over billion dollars businesses to people with absolutely zero qualifications besides "growing up in the business"

Vince has a degree in business and I'm sure his own dad could tell at a very young age that he had very sharp business mind. And he still had to buy the promotion from his father, he didn't just give it to him

I think it's easy to imagine the on-screen characters of Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley and Triple H trying to do a hostile takeover of the WWE and forcefully remove Vince McMahon from power but I'm sure that's not exactly what happened
One would assume they'll still inherit a substantial interest in Endeavor and Triple H would remain extremely well placed to carry on running it.

Did wrestling fans really want HHH and Stephanie having complete control over the wrestling industry?...

I completely believe it was a failed palace coup, the pieces are all there. Vince gutted NXT and fired Regal during Haitch’s health issues; Steph and Haitch both voted as board members to not let Vince return, then undid his various maneuvers; Steph resigned hours before the board vote to reinstate him. I absolutely believe they played a shitty hand and got Vince’d.

They’re multi millionaires who were both gifted shares in the company that they’ve repeatedly cashed in over the years. Dafuq is Russo on.

I don't get what Russo is thinking either. Plus what if Stephanie and Triple H didn't want to run WWE for decades in the future? Wasn't there a report years ago of speculation that Triple H isn't interested in being involved in the business forever? Then he had his health situation happen. Like, Stephanie and Triple H are set due to WWE and Triple H will probably have a place in WWE for as long as he wants it. So I feel like Russo is off base with this. I get that the "Vince made a deal with Endeavor because Vince isn't confident in Triple H and Stephanie taking over" is a popular assumption but I never believed that because the people that Vince made the deal with are those who had never been involved in the wrestling business.

Yes they wanted them to. Old threads would always talk about removing Vince and letting those two take over.

Exactly they had all this time that they were capable and in Vince's eyes they fell short.
I’m sure the 300m each of them got for the Endeavor deal could be used to wipe away some of those tears.
I doubt it. They've already got plenty of money. More than they know what to do with. They want control. Triple H does not want to work under Vince, he wants to be his own boss and not have to worry about Vince meddling with his own plans, and Stephanie definitely was not happy to leave the company twice in a year, both times were Vince related.

The whole "They've got money so they're happy" thing is an average person mentality that comes from watching Scrooge McDuck dive in the gold pool too many times. Rich people are not content just by collecting dollars in their bank account, they're control freaks. They want power. The more you get, the more you want.

Come on now. Vince filed for bankruptcy in the 70s, they were supposedly about a million in debt, and he got his fathers company because it was sold to him on the cheap and he was allowed to pay the cheap price in monthly installments.

Not that any of this means Stephanie deserves to just inherit it, but let's not pretend like her dad was (I mean, by the time he was her age he certainly was, but we don't know for a fact that she isn't) some business savvy titan who earned his spot at the top of the mountain. The story of Evel Knievel well and truly making a mark out of the man is one of the funniest stories there is.

I don’t think Stephanie or HHH are entitled to any kind of an inheritance. But I do think this is an interesting topic/discussion point. I am surprised Russo brought it up lol.
