Promoting TNA Wrestling’s live event at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Velvet Sky addressed a number of topics

TNA providing the Knockouts the time to tell stories each week and the freedom to progress: “It’s awesome here because TNA lets us explore character development. We are not just coming out there as girls wrestling and then you don’t see us for a couple of weeks. We get to do backstage vignettes and promos. They let us speak on the microphone, and we do a lot of it in the ring. You don’t see that elsewhere.
“There are matches [elsewhere] where the girls will wrestle for three minutes or so and go to the back. They don’t say a word, and you really don’t know who is who. Here [TNA] we are so grateful we get the chance to be able to come into our own, have time to talk and have our characters develop. I just feel like that has us connected with the fans more.”

Her dream opponent: “I would absolutely love to work with Amy Dumas one day, the wrestler formally known as Lita.

“She is the whole reason I wanted to get into this business. I have always been a fan of wrestling here and there, but when I saw her for the first time, I was just so blown away by her look and athletic ability and how she connected to the crowd, whether it was male or female.
“I try to pattern myself after her. I don’t do the high-flying maneuvers, staying on the ground, but she is the whole reason I wanted to get into this business and got into wrestling. If she were to come here, I think that would be awesome. I would love to work with her one day.”

Velvet hit it right on the head when she said the other company does not give the women enough time to build their TV characters.

Same. Haven't cared about WWE diva division for years now. Was good when Lita, Trish, Torrie, Stacey and Sable were around but now it's absolutely awful. Knockout division is decent, especially Velvet <3 and Gail is a fantastic girl heel. Rest are nothing special but the division as a whole is enjoyable for me (unless it involves Winter and Angelina Love).

You are alone on that one Headliner I agree with everyone else here. TNA has always been much stronger with the Knockout division and they actually do and can wrestle.

The "Diva" division hasn't been good since 2006 when Trish was feuding with a "psycho" stalker in Mickie James. Total character development during that angle, and completely entertaining during that time.

I like the "Knockouts" division a bit more, yeah.

Right. Because jobbing out Tara (someone who can actually wrestle) and pushing Velvet as the number 1 chick sure does make the division look credible. She needs to stay away from the ring at all times.

lol I often think this about her. But she's the most over, as much as I hate to say it I can see why they are pushing her for the title. It's similar to Kelly Kelly.

Then again, unlike WWE TNA has a great variety of fantastic female wrestlers who are over that can be pushed like Mickie, Tara and even Brooke Tessmacher, who is actually better in the ring than Velvet.

So yea. No excuses. I kinda feel bad that Velvet is so terrible but she's been such an avid fan of women's wrestling for so long.

Velvet's the most over because she's the closest thing to porn on TV.
No arguments here. It's not really a question when your only talents are how hot you are and showing your ass on the ring ropes.

I do think she has some chemistry or personality with the crowd, way more than her WWE counterpart Kelly, but it's no mystery that she's over because guys want to fuck her, not for any ability or character....which made it a little strange when she compared her character work to Lita, who was presented as an alternative sexy with her thongs etc... but was much more about her character as a punk rocker or a risk taker.

i beg to differ... the divas division was good up until 2009.. 2010 maybe.. the division was stacked

At this stage of her career all Tara should be doing is putting other talent over much like Bubba Ray.

Tara is only there to put over the headliners, the Velvet Skys, Gail Kims, Mickie James, Madison Rayne, etc...

She is an enhancement talent.

Velvet is not the worst one, that is the scary part.
Miss Tessmacher makes me cringe.
There has to be women out there that can wrestle better then half these chicks.

Overall, TNA's Knockout Division is better presented than WWE's Diva Division. Its not like the WWE doesn't have talented girls, but its presented as such an unimportant thing that it doesn't really matter what is going on there. Hopefully Kharma's return will fix that.
