Whilst people ALWAYS talk about The Clique in between the early to mid 90's The Undertaker also had his own little group with Crush, Savio Vega, Yokozuna and The Godwinn's called The B.S.K and they were like a backstage police. Bret Hart would have you believe he was the locker room leader and all about doing what was best for "the boys" but from the minute the likes of Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and Ric Flair were gone The Undertaker assumed the locker room leader role.
A lot of alliances were formed back then and despite The Clique getting heat for only doing best by each other it was a time when everyone within their group worked with each other, there were no guaranteed contracts so friends looked after friends. People remember The Clique working with each other but forget Bret Hart spent the best part of 2 years working with his friends and family and The Undertaker worked almost exclusively with people associated with his friend Ted DiBiase or in his group like Yokozuna.
I think by the time he returned in 1994 and began main eventing PPV's when NOT WWE champion like at Summerslam and Survivor Series that year he was already solidified in the role as leader backstage and further cemented it during 1996 when Bret Hart was away, I've never heard anyone EVER say a bad word about him and he's a rarity in the business alongside Sting and Randy Savage, as someone who's a true legend in the business that never had to use politics or friendships to get on top.
