I got the impression that Gail thinks Riho is a diva. That her skirt is too short and she is just there to be sexualized. Understandably, this is a sore spot for Gail because of her WWE run.

Gail is passionate about women's wrestling and I do think that getting in the ring with Riho or a similar smaller joshi wrestler would change her mind.

Did Riho's fanbase come together in big support like this when Jim Cornette verbally brutalized her awhile back? I am not defending Gail in any way, her vibe always irritated me a little.

 

 

Gail is right of course. The virtue signalers on X are out in force. Gail has a specific criticism and suddenly she is the worse person in the world and users are targeting her with harassment for having an opinion that a lot of other people also have.

Riho isn't believable. It isn't just her size, which is obviously a big part, it's everything else too. Rey Mysterio bulked up when he came to WWE, his offense made sense, and he was uber athletic. Riho is just there to trade spots, just like every other midget in AEW. It makes no sense and isn't believable when wrestling significantly larger people.

I mean Rhio is a good enough worker but yeah Rhio looks like a 12 year old girl who is so tiny that anytime she gets slam, I almost half expect her to snap in half.

The problem is that Riho isn't a good worker. Neither is Adam Cole and a lot of these other guys and girls. They're good 'wrestlers' as in they can do moves and spots, but they can't work. If your matches make no sense and can't be taken seriously, you aren't a good worker.

The amazing thing about a guy like Rey Mysterio was that he could suspend your disbelief and make you believe that he was believably holding his own against monsters like A-Train, Batista, Big Show, JBL, etc. Everything he did made sense relative to his body type and athletic profile compared to theirs. Using his speed, using their momentum against them, just the moves he did and why and when he did them made sense. Like getting a big guy angry, going to the outside, having the chase him around the ring, beating them back in the ring and then blasting them with a dropkick as they were getting back in the ring. Logically speaking, that whole sequence did three things: Getting the big guy angry get them off their game, making them chase Rey would tire them out, draining their stamina, hitting them with a dropkick as they were getting back in the ring would do damage and frazzle them even more. This is just an example of something Rey would do with his matches. This is the stuff that's lost today, logic, nuance, psychology. It's a big reason why the current product is so hard to watch. Seeing midgets like Riho and Adam Cole trade spots with people twice their size is embarrassing to watch.

 

I mean, Riho is not believable as a fighter to be fair, so she’s not wrong. But I’m a fan anyway so sue me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Zero character or character work, can't cut a promo, looks like a child and carries herself like a child, not good in the ring and her stuff look bad. Of anyone that does the Tiger Feint Kick, she is by far the worst and doing it and it looks awful every time she does it. For someone that's small and light she is slow and unathletic. There are females that are much taller and weigh far more that moves quicker than Riho does. She has nothing going for her imo.

3. The 'believable wrestling' crowd are always a trip. Like what you like, but don't be hypocritical about it. She's saying she only saw Riho years ago, so, what, with Nyla Rose? She throws 5 punches and Nyla brushes them off and puts her on her knees with 1. All her meaningful offence is her flying through the air and counters. Gail talks like they were out there trading chops.

In my opinion she is good in the ring. Yes she is small, but there are many great female wrestlers who are. The matches they have cant ignore the size, but there are ways to work it into matches and those matches be very successful.
