Of course it was his idea, he was thirsty for some new young talent to bury and make him tap out in his first 2 months on the roster. Good idea John, and fuck you.
How did cena buried owens? During the feud, Even though cena won. In the matches Owens always looked liked a equal to john cena,EX: kicking out of multiple AA's even a one off the top rope. Even after the feud, he went on beat Ceasro twice, one the IC title and was in one of the main events of survivor series that year. So how Owens got " buried" again?

To be fair, with john mostly peacing out these days, it would make perfect sense for owens to stand tall.

cena gains nothing from winning feuds really anymore, hes on a pedestal

owens wasnt buried per say but its still questionable.

Owens went from a being Brock Lesnar like dominant heel to just another guy after his feud with Cena and in 2 months he was jobbing to Dean Ambrose. The "eqaul" to Cena part is nonsense, I don't care what happened in the match, what I and the people care about is that this guy was tapping out. And after all this is the John Cena match formula, after wrestling for 13 years this clown's idea of a good match is a finisher fest. The kickouts' purpose is to make Cena and his matches look good and "epic" not his opponent.

And like UniversalGleam mentioned, this motherfucker shouldn't be beating anybody after being on top for eternity. Owens turned out fine but Cena derailed his momentum after being on fire in 2015.

Saw the DVD.
KO actually the one that pitched the idea to answer Cena's U.S Open Challenge on Raw in his hometown in montreal.
Creative then called Kevin to tell him that they will use his idea only with Sami Zayn LOL

KO 1 week later was called up to the main roster.

Wonder if it was also Johnny Boy's idea to have Owens lose the feud to him as well? Methinks it was.

Which works fine when you're down in NXT beating up geeks, but being Brock Lesnar-like on the main roster when there's already a Brock Lesnar is no good for anyone (because you'll NEVER compare). Owens needed to be humanized and I think they went about it the right way.

1. What's wrong with losing clean to ambrose?

2. The Brock Lesnar heel thing was starting to wear off, Even before he tapped out to cena, He loss to balor clean as a whistle.

3. What's wrong with taping to the STF? Multiple wrestlers tapped out to EX: HBK, HHH, Batista and Orton.

Cena didn't bury Owens. He did something far worse: he threw him under the bus.

Owens didn't get any chance to showcase himself against other wrestlers, he wasn't given any feuds, he didn't even get any jobbers to beat the shit out of to give the audience a chance to know him. He just had Owens go right into it with John Cena straight out of the gate, and it's the worst thing you could do to a debuting talent.

Yes, Owens got a clean win over John Cena (which in my opinion was also a terrible idea). Yes, Owens looked great in his matches with Cena. But he is a heel. Getting clean wins over the face of the company? Going back and forth with him to the point where he's kicking out of Cena's finishers?

You know what the problem with that is? The feud is about Cena. How will he overcome this? Will he get payback for his loss to Owens? Will he lose again? That is the problem when you are having someone feud with Cena straight out of the gate. No one is going to care about Owens and thus we don't get invested in him during this feud. Compare this with, say, Nakamura and the way he was brought to the main roster. He feuded with Dolph Ziggler, and had a slow build to his very first match on the main roster at a PPV event. The difference is that Ziggler is a heel and Nakamura is the face, and thus the roles are in the appropriate places. And also, no one gives a shit about Ziggler, so at this point, all the eyes are on Nakamura.

Cena, you're a god damned idiot and a fool if that truly was your idea. You set Owens up for failure, gave him the worst start possible and it took him god knows how long to make people care for him again, and in the wrong way might I add. He hasn't been able to consistently get heat until he went to Smackdown and they actually booked him like a proper heel.

There was no point in Owens winning the feud against Cena unless he was going to immediately main event. While I do wish the third match had been saved for SSlam that year, I see no problem with how things went down.

How do you guys remember every little technicality from every feud throughout history?

Literally the only thing I remember about Cena/Owens was Owens winning on debut in a dominant performance. I think he lost a subsequent PPV but by then the damage was done and an impression was made.

It was a great way to debut right on top - beating John Cena.

Immediately told everyone where they see Kevin Owens.

It was rumored that it was HHH who called him up, but now he admits it was Cena who pushed for the call up. Anyways, how exactly did Cena bury Owens while Owens has had good feuds and title runs?

1- When you go from being a dominant heel to losing to Dean Ambrose who was almost a jobber at the time it's a problem.

2- It started to wear off when Cena beat him clean first at MITB then he lost to Balor, then he got officially demoted when he tapped out.

3- Well first I should say that I'm against anybody even Curt Hawkins tapping out to the STF because Cena is one of the least convincing wrestlers ever and I won't buy him as a submission specialist with this shitty move.

When they made those guys tap out to this horrendous move they were at least trying to elevate Cena so there was some logic behind it even if it was the wrong move. But in 2015 nobody should be tapping out to this stale over the hill "Epic Match John" especially someone who was built up as an unstoppable monster.

1. When he tapped out Batista in 2010 he was already elevated
2. Question, Suppose Owens won the feud, What do you do with him?

Only here can you see people try and spin Owens beating Cena in his first match on the main roster as a negative.

1. That's John Cena for you, everybody and their grandmother should be humiliated against him. If he was elevated in 2010, imagine what is he in 2015? a god?

2. I don't care what happens next, when you debut a promising star against the most pushed guy ever on his way out you make him win, what happens next can be solved easily but at least you start it right. Now you have a new established heel, you continue building him up while building a new face that actually needs to be elevated like Cesaro and make him beat Owens. It's wrestling 101.
