Before Wrestlemania, WWE was teasing some sort of an alliance between these three guys. Triple H helped Kevin Owens win the Universal Championship last year and then didn't have any interaction with Owens after that, but it laid the groundwork for something in the future possibly. Then during the road to Wrestlemania we finally saw HHH and Owens interact with each other. We got a segment with HHH and Owens talking backstage, and then Owens betrayed Chris Jericho. It looked like HHH might have convinced Owens to turn on his Jericho, but why? Was it all to do with HHH and Owens joining forces and HHH didn't want Jericho because he saw him as dead weight or something? What was going on between these two.
After the Royal Rumble, Samoa Joe debuted on the main roster as The Destroyer, and was very supportive of the authority. He talked about the opportunities HHH and Steph gave him, and made out that he was HHH's destroyer. He also helped both HHH and Owens during their feuds with Jericho and Seth Rollins, which only fueled the idea of an alliance between HHH, Owens and Joe even more.
Everything seemed set in place for a new version of the Authority, possibly with Kevin Owens as the new poster child for the authority, backed up by Stephanie and HHH, and Samoa Joe acting as the enforcer. But after Wrestlemania, nothing happened. HHH returned to NXT, Steph has taken time off, Owen is on Smackdown, and Joe is on Raw. So what happened?
Did WWE decide not to go ahead with the alliance in the end? Maybe the draft changed the plans. It is possible that WWE could continue to storyline however. They could have Owens on Smackdown going after the WWE Championship, and Joe on Raw going after the Universal Championship, and they would both be backed up by Steph and HHH. But it doesn't look like anything will happen for them anytime soon since WWE is focused on pushing Jinder Mahal on SD, and Brock Lesner currently holds the Universal Championship.
Maybe WWE didn't have any long term plans, and all that speculation about HHH, Owens and Joe joining forces was just a fan theory. Maybe it was just supposed to be something for road to Wrestlemania. I don't know it just seems like the storyline has ended or something.
