Re: Triple H Drafted to smackdown in 04

Triple H didn't wanna work Tuesdays. I'd assume that doing so also would have meant dissolving Evolution far earlier on.

Then again there's probably more to it than just Triple H's ego.
I wonder what storylines would have happened? I'm pretty sure Eddie gets buried in no time.

Re: Triple H Drafted to smackdown in 04

He'd have likely ended up in JBL's position as longest reigning champion on Smackdown. Eddie probably would have still lost the title at Judgement day. History would definitely have turned out different. I remember reading about there being some supposed animosity that Triple H had for Cena during his early days as champ, so he may not have put over Cena at WM 21. I dunno where Orton would have ended up, and Batista may not have risen to level he had if he was kept on Raw without Triple H to feud with.

Re: Triple H Drafted to smackdown in 04

I wish HHH could've at least spent the summer of Smackdown so RAW could have some room to breathe without him. Let Benoit & HBK tear it up for a couple of PPVs, HHH & Eddie trade the WWE Title, Orton technically becomes leader of Evolution and then HHH returns at Unforgiven to help Orton retain against Benoit to start the Evolution break up. Eddie ends up with 2 WWE Title reigns in 2004 and JBL could still get but just at the end of the year. I think HHH staying on RAW kinda hurt Orton's face turn experiment in the long run.

I really think they missed an opportunity with redrafting HHH back to RAW. Could of easily had Benoit/HBK tear the PPV's down for few times while HHH could face Eddie for the title.

But then again, i wonder what if Champions had changed spots?

Eddie to RAW as WWE Champion while Benoit goes to Smackdown as World Heavyweight Champion. That would of given us Eddie vs. HBK and HHH etc etc.

Benoit would of had to deal with Angle's reign of terror :lol

Re: Triple H Drafted to smackdown in 04

Why did they drop this storyline? Smackdown needed a huge player after Lesnar left.
It was very poorly done imo

At the time i only had access to smackdown as we didn't have the network raw was on, so i only saw the raw highlights on smackdown, and the PPV's, as a result, I was really glad when HHH got drafted, because smackdown was starting to get a bit stale, they had good workers on the roster but it would have been great to see HHH in fueds with eddie, taker and angle etc.

Smackdown had been the better show when lesnar was around, but raw had started to take over at this stage with evolution having new interesting stars like batista, orton, they also had hbk, had taken benoit, edge, kane, jericho, had recently had goldberg and the rock, foley, turned up from time to time etc, so there was a lot more going on.

They also even had the better announce team.

But then they swapped HHH for Booker T and The Dudleys which was so "meh" and it made the smackdown brand look weak too.

It was funny i remember talking to my friend on the phone who wasn't really a big wrestling fan and i was like would you swap hhh for booker t and the dudleyz and he was like no, he's bigger than all 3 of them by a distance, so even he knew.

benoit had only just got over there so it was best he stayed it would have just been boring him being on smackdown against the same people again

Yeah i remember, i started watching the last month he was on Smackdown before he got drafted.

It's over 10 years ago too. Time has flown fast.

I think its the same as Cena drafted to SD and back to RAW same night scenario. Only Trips came back to RAW in "exchange" for Booker and The Dudleyz if I remember correctly. They prob just wanted to have a trade involved to make it seem more real of a draft and also to have people tune in to SD to see the fate of The Game. God the draft was so exciting, I miss the brand split. If they ever do one again I hope it is the one from that year with the tumblers that was my fav.

Heyman comes off looking like a dumbass here. It's a horrible trade. HHH for Booker T and the Dudleys.

Re: Triple H Drafted to smackdown in 04

The real time to send Triple H to Smackdown was in 2005. Cena should have come to Raw but Batista should have also stayed. I get that WWE wanted both shows headlined by the two biggest stars, and it obviously worked since they both led successful tours for several years, and became huge names for the WWE. Not to mention, if Batista had stayed on Raw, Cena probably wouldn't get that 2 year push steamrolling everyone, and may have faltered under Batista who was more universally cheered, but I always thought it was stupid sending Batista to Smackdown.

One of the reasons the backlash to Cena happened was because they brought him to Raw and fans didn't want to accept him as the top guy. Had Batista stayed, you wouldn't get that problem because he'd be your number one while Cena is a close number two. You just go the Austin/Rock route with them, and it'd probably stop fans from feeling Cena doesn't deserve the top spot since he wouldn't have been rushed into it. Batista was easily the biggest star in the WWE at the time, was coming off a huge feud with Triple H which was probably the best drawing feud they had since Rock/Hogan 4 years prior, and going to Smackdown was a step down. Everyone loved him at the time. I think Triple H would have been fine on Smackdown for a while, and more importantly, they could have built the Batista/Cena feud better with an encounter at Wrestlemania 22 first. They could have kept them both as champions, and had them face each other WM22.

They could have transitioned from Batista to Cena more naturally that way, and maybe even avoided a backlash. Wrestlemania 22 they could face off for the first time, and WM23 could be the rematch where Cena finally goes over. From there they could send Batista to Smackdown and bring Triple H back to Raw. It'd have been a much smarter move, and I bet we wouldn't have got that 50/50 crowd split with Cena that has fucked up so much of the fan dynamic until today.

@TheHumpdink - I think HHH should've moved to SmackDown! by 2005, because John Cena and Batista were ready to rule WWE at a time they were upcoming megastars.

Looking back at future polarizing fan backlash against Cena, I think it would've been better if Batista was RAW's top face and Cena be Batista's mere sidekick as the #2 guy. Orton and Edge would've been RAW's top heels while HHH would've had to deal with The Undertaker, Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio and maybe Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels.

After all, it would've saved us fans from being divided over battling our fellow smarky counterparts today.
