Why is this useless a name change to IWL might sell their merchandise better & could also help the go on the road staying with TNA it just might keep them out of some arenas

I wonder how long until this thread is closed.

The name will never be changed. They have invested enough years into it. People know TNA as the second to wwe wrestling company.

It has its stand. They just have to keep trying to move forward.

You cannot say something has a bad name and then suggest even WORSE NAMES. Its the 21st century man and not the 80's. TNA Wrestling rebranding themselves simply as "Impact" would be the most logic choice if they were going to do so as nothing would really have to change as fas as TV listings are concerned and they would also sound hip and cool much in the vein of names like: Strikeforce, PRIDE, SHIMMER, Chikara, and Evolve.

Actually, changing the name 8 years after TNA started would likely be detrimental to the organization.

Yeah just like it was when WWF became WWE and when ECWA became ECW...try again.

There is NOTHING wrong with rebranding especially considering TNA doesn't have a brand. "Impact" is pretty much on everything so going to that name would be easiest. You can't move forward without spending some money, time, etc in to making a product.

ECWA becoming ECW? What?

And WWF was forced to change the name due to a lawsuit. That's an entirely different thing.

How many times have people tossed around random gatherings of letters as suggestions for a new name for TNA?

Why are these names any better? Ignoring the fact that another promotion is called IWA (the best suggestion of the three).

No its not. Its a company changing its name and forced to change a lot of the merch and stuff and STILL be around today. ECW didn't start off as "ECW" and they were around for YEARS after that. My point is is that you are screaming gloom and doom is TNA were to change its name but the fact of the matter is that a name change is sometimes a positive thing as long as the core fans can still identify the product.

Okay, you need history lesson on ECW. It was founded under the Tri-State Wrestling Alliance banner in 1989 and was sold to Jim Crockett in '92, who renamed it Eastern Championship Wrestling. In '94 they seceded from NWA and renamed themselves Extreme Championship Wrestling, effectively distancing themselves from NWA.

The WWE change is different. I'm saying that a company changing it's name for no reason whatsoever (both ECW and WWE had legitimate reasons) could end up hurting the product.
