Word is that with Devon being finished with TNA, that the company may also be dropping the TV Title. Devon did not sign a new deal with the promotion, and they did not have him drop the title before he left. There was also talk of doing away with the TV Title before Devon's decision was made.

Probably for the best. Too much bad history for that particular belt. Though a midcard championship that was focused on and made to seem important could be a benefit to TNA.

I've been hoping they'd drop the tv title for a while. It was worthless.
The TV Championship could have been great from the point where it was renamed to that by AJ Styles in 2010, they just never really used it properly. Putting it on Devon and having him defend it every week was a great idea, but the BFG Series derailed it.

Personally I hope they keep the belt, have a tournament for it culminating at BFG and make it a big deal. If they do scrap it, at least it went out with a great final champion.

Oh my brother, Testify.
Good they also need to drop the knockouts tag titles, they have to many titles for a 2 hour weekly show.
They still need a real midcard title for wrestlers to have a proper profession to the world title. I always thought that having a tv title in 2012 was kind of cheap. Throughout the entire lineage of that title, TNA has never got it right. Just introduce an International or North American title or something of that nature and move on.

Jeez, I had completely forgot that they even existed. Who are the champions again? I can't remember for the life of me.

Anyway, I guess I'm the minority in thinking that they should keep the TV Title. Make it a mid card title and make it a stepping stone to the world title. I think it's a good title to have.

I think its Eric Young and ODB not sure.
TNA used the hornswoggle act on the KOs tag titles. Never understood why they were created in the first place.
Drop the Tv Title,Wait a 6 months to a year Create a new Midcard title...Simple

Edit: They really need to drop the Knockouts Tag Team Titles aswell but aleast if this is true its a start :)

This. Let the mess ups they've made with the TV title fade from memories for a while then bring in a new title and give it to someone good.

There really is a need for such a title - it can give a certain status to those guys who "deserve a bone" but aren't part of the current WHC scene (at the moment that would be people like Joe, Daniels, AJ and the like); it can be a good stepping stone for those guys who are tentatively moving up from the X Division (hey, not everyone is A Double!), and it's a good "building-up" belt for the good midcarders - I always saw guys like Magnus or Gunner going for it eventually.

I'm all for resting it then bringing in a new belt to fulfil that function. Scrapping it altogether could be a mistake, though.

I agree that the KO tag team titles are pointless now, however.
So they're basically saying Devon was such a great TV Champion, that nobody realistically could come close to his reign and therefore the belt must be retired.

Swag.

Same. I thought they should get rid of it the second it debuted as the Legends Title... Pointless to have it. With just the World Title, Tag-Titles, and X-Division Titles (and KO Title - hopefully with them dropping the KO Tag-Titles soon too), each Title has it's own Division - a cool concept IMO - and while some may argue that the TV Title is good for the mid-card, I'd argue that the mid-card can challenge for the X-Division Title and Tag-Titles. While some wrestlers might not fit into the X-Division or Tag-Divisions, they can easily form a short-term alliances with other wrestlers to challenge for the Tag-Titles. I think dropping the TV Title is the best thing they can do at the moment...
R.I.P. Legends Championship
BASED GOD! There's no world after DEVON!
ya wait until 2013.bring in a belt called impact wrestling championship. the dam website is called I impact wrestling. the name is very important.he'll then promote it more then the tna name.make it a defending belt. so it's used more.
Good. With the X-Division title now being used as a stepping-stone to the main-event scene, it's time to bring the focus back on the X-Division. That's the only midcard TNA needs, the TV Title just cluttered things up.
Not surprised they're retiring the title. Devon was such a great champion that no one could follow him.
For what it's worth Devon is still recognized as Television Champion. If he can go another 12 days he'll be the longest reigning champion of all time. A great accolade to end a great run.

12 more days. You know it's the right thing to do, TNA.
So why did Devon decline to re-sign with TNA? And is Bully Ray gone too?
