TNA 2010 - The Power Struggle

Ever since its inception in 2002, Total Nonstop Action (TNA) has been waiting for the right moment to finally step up and bring a different product to the one being offered by Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). 2010 was supposed to be THE year for TNA. They had the home grown talent, the successful January 4th show, the debut of the Immortal Hulk Hogan, the recruits of big name stars and most importantly it looked like the future was bright. However, were TNA setting themselves up for the biggest fall in their history? Combined with all the talent they had at their disposals, they also had big egos. Some of the same big egos that sent WCW crashing and digging their own grav after the big boom they had in the ratings. Names such as Hulk Hogan, Eric Bischoff, Kevin Nash, Sting, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Mick Foley and Jeff Jarrett. Could all these big names co-exist to catapult TNA to that next level that will allow them to compete with the WWE on a weekly basis? However, there was another problem because with big names comes big paycheques. Even before these big names were signed TNA were having very severe financial difficulties with the TNA President Dixie Carter having to work overtime to keep TNA financially stable and still in business. Was it worth the risk to spend millions on the stars in the hopes that they could help the ratings rise and bring in bigger profits? With all these combustible elements mixed into one, tune in every Thursday night at 9/8c on Spike TV to see if TNA could continue their rise to the top and finally fulfil their potential.

Just wanted to inform everyone that this BTB will be starting from the iMPACT! after the January 4th edition. Below is a full recap of the show:

Monday 4th January 2010
TNA iMPACT! Results

TNA Impact Opener:

A video package is shown highlighting the 8 year history of TNA.

Tenay & Taz welcome us to Impact and introduce their new broadcast partner, Bubba The Love Sponge.

8 man Steel Asylum Match

Match ends in a no contest after Homicide blasts everyone with steel pipes. Jeff Hardy returns afterwards to take care of Homicide. He then proceeds to climb the steel structure and sits on the top.

Winner: No contest

Footage of Hogan’s limo is shown on its way to the Impact Zone.

Christy interviews Nash who proceeds to hype the arrival of Hogan. He then tells us Hogan isn’t coming alone.

TNA Knockouts Championship Match: Tara (C) vs ODB

ODB beats Tara by holding the tights and exposing her ass. After the match, Tara hits the Widow’s Peak on her and puts her tarantula on her.

Winner and NEW TNA Knockouts Champion: ODB

Ric Flair arrives at the Impact Zone and proceeds straight to AJ Styles’ locker room.

We get footage from earlier where Foley was denied access in to the Impact Zone.

Bobby and Kristal Lashley come to the ring for a promo. Kristal does all the talking and proceeds to insult all wrestling fans and puts MMA over. She then demands that her husband is released from his contract.

We see The Beautiful People getting ready to play strip poker and later on in the evening they are joined by Sean Morley. They promise to raise the ratings through their game.

Hall and Waltman are shown trying to get into the arena but they are denied access by security. They then attack the security.

Hogan’s limo is shown again but this time it is sitting next to another limo and someone gets out of the second limo and into Hogan’s limo. They then continue towards the Impact Zone. In the Impact Zone, we see that Hall and Waltman have found a way into the building.

Hulk enters the Impact Zone and the crowd go crazy. He starts talking about making history and taking TNA further before he is interrupted by Hall and Waltman. They continue to argue about moving on before Nash enters the fray and it isn’t long before he is followed by Eric Bischoff.

Sting is shown afterwards watching everything from the rafters.

TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championships Match: Taylor & Sarita (C) vs Kong & Hamada

Kong & Hamada win in what was a very good showcase of the talents in the Knockouts division. Kong & Hamada become the new champs.

Winners and NEW TNA Knockouts Tag Team Champions: Kong & Hamada

Again, we see Foley and this time The Nasty Boyz trying to get in but having no luck

TNA World Tag Team No. 1 Contenders Match: Morgan & Hernandez vs Dr. Stevie & Raven

Morgan & Hernandez win in what was basically a squash match.

Winners and NEW TNA World Tag Team No. 1 Contenders: Morgan & Hernandez

Backstage Christy is interviewing Pope about his upcoming match before he is interrupted by Orlando Jordan, with Pope not being too pleased about it.

Pope vs Wolfe

Pope defeats Wolfe after reversing the Tower of London and rolling Desmond up in a small package.

Winner: Pope

Earlier we saw The Guns knocked out backstage and now we saw Rhino who suffered the same fate.

JB was interviewing AJ about his title defence at Genesis when Bischoff walked in and said we wouldn’t have to wait till Genesis as AJ would defend the title against Kurt TONIGHT!

Jarrett came out to cut his usual promo about how he started TNA from scratch and gave opportunities to so many young wrestlers like AJ and Beer Money. Hogan appeared on the tron and said all that doesn’t matter because if it wasn’t for Dixie TNA wouldn’t still be in business. Hogan told Jarrett to get his boots, lace them up and get in line.

Backstage we saw Christy interviewing Daniels when JB came up to her and told her of Foley’s plans to get into the building. Speak of the devil as we then see Foley barge past JB and go looking for Hogan.

Backstage we saw Hardy and Moore talking about meeting ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan.

Abyss vs Joe

Abyss was supposed to face Rhino but because of proceedings from earlier where Rhino was knocked out, Joe came out. Joe got the win in a physical bout after blasting Abyss in the head with a steel chair when the ref wasn’t looking. Joe then locked in the Rear Naked Choke and Abyss was forced to tap.

Winner: Samoa Joe

We go backstage yet again where we see Kristal Lashley confront Eric Bischoff about meeting Hulk Hogan. Bischoff told her to get a number, join the line and check her attitude at the door. She told him Bobby wouldn’t be happy with these events.

We are still backstage and we see that Beer Money are the latest victims of the anonymous sneak attacks.

The Nasty Boyz try to get in yet again and this time they succeed as Bubba distracts the security long enough for them to sneak in.

Hardy and Moore are shown leaving the arena with two envelopes in their hands

We see The Nasty Boyz again who have found Team 3D’s locker room and they absolutely trash it with Team 3D stuck in Japan.

TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match: AJ Styles (C) vs Angle

The match started fast but it slowed after the masked man came out and attacked AJ. However, Kurt wasn’t having any of it and started attacking the masked assailant who ran away. The match went back-and-forth afterwards and towards the end Ric Flair came out and watched the match from the ramp. AJ won after hitting a springboard 450 splash. After the match, they shook hands and Kurt raised Styles’ hand.

Winner and STILL TNA World Heavyweight Champion: AJ Styles

Hogan came out and started praising both men for their efforts. He called them both the two best wrestlers today. However, Hulk was interrupted by a worker who whispered something in his ear before he ran off backstage. We go backstage where we see Mick Foley in Hogan’s office threatening Bischoff. Foley said he promised himself he would never work for Bischoff and tries to attack him before The Band attack him from behind. We then see Hogan barge into the room and does look to impressed by happenings in his office as the cameras fade to black.

Well this is an interesting thread. Starting from the January 4th date is always good, and you can go so many different ways. Though I saw at the end of your show you said "I pinched this recap from the web to save time but the rest will be my own work"?? Does that mean you plagiarized this?? If so....

If you read what I wrote before the recap, you would have noticed that I am starting my show on the Impact after the January 4th edition. That recap was just to remind people what happened.

It's still technically plagiarism.

TNA Impact Preview: January 14 2010
Impact Zone, Orlando, Florida

Just 10 days removed from the most historic night in TNA history where we witness the debuts and returns of so many stars, TNA brings you another jam-packed edition of Impact. After re-debuting on the live edition of Monday Night Impact, Jeff Hardy decided to have a bit of fun as he blasted World Elite member Homicide in the skull with a steel chair after he took out all the participants in the Steel Asylum match with a lead pipe. Hardy wasn’t done there as he then connected with the Twist of Fate to leave Homicide motionless and send the crowd into frenzy. However, Homicide has a chance to get retribution for Hardy’s actions as he faces the ‘Charismatic Enigma’ in his first match since he returned.

In what was a night full of shocks, TNA sent massive shockwaves throughout the wrestling industry as ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair debuted on TNA. Flair didn’t stop to celebrate or bask in the glory of coming to the best wrestling company as he headed straight to the locker room of the TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Flair came out near the climax of Styles’ match with Angle and he was certainly impressed with what he saw. What kind of relationship is there, if any, between these two? One thing is for sure though; it will be even harder now for anyone to defeat AJ Styles with the 16 time World Champion in his corner.

In a night where we saw the return of Jeff Hardy and the debut of ‘The Immortal’ Hulk Hogan, it was very inevitable that we would see the return of two former TNA superstars in Scott Hall and Sean Waltman. The word on all the fans’ lips is that The Band are back together here in TNA and they are looking to pick off where they left off a couple of years ago before the demise of WCW. Will Hogan and Bischoff have anything to say about the return of their former associates?

Speaking of Hogan and Bischoff, they have to take care of two very unhappy superstars and men who felt they had all the power in TNA. These two men are none other than ‘The Hardcore Legend’ Mick Foley and the TNA Founder Jeff Jarrett. In Foley’s particular case he is said to be very unhappy by the fact he was locked out of the Impact Zone 10 days ago even though he is the Executive Shareholder in TNA. An irate Foley went to Hogan’s office to confront him but he found Bischoff instead. When he went to attack him he got laid out by The Band. Fireworks are set to explode as Foley and Jarrett look for some answers from the new men in power in TNA.

Plus we will get updates on the conditions of The Motor City Machine Guns, Beer Money and Rhino who were all laid out 10 days ago in mysterious sneak attacks. We will also find out if Hogan will grant Bobby Lashley his wish and release him from his contract so he can move onto MMA. Not only that but we will get the reactions of Team 3D who were stuck in Japan last Monday night as The Nasty Boyz came to TNA and destroyed their locker room. TNA cameras will also be on the lookout for ‘The Icon’ Sting as the world waits in anticipation to see what he makes of the arrivals of Hulk Hogan and his accomplice Eric Bischoff.

Be sure to tune in this Thursday night as TNA once again looks to deliver the best wrestling product out there today.

Scheduled
Jeff Hardy vs Homicide
AJ/Kurt vs Morgan/Hernandez
Daniels vs Suicide for No.1 Contender’s Spot for the X Division title
Foley/Jarrett call out Hogan/Bischoff
Team 3D call out The Nasty Boyz
The debuts of Generation Me and Orlando Jordan
Plus appearances from all your other stars including: Beer Money, The Guns, The Band, etc.
