so I am no fan of golf whatsoever.....but i couldn't help but tune in yesterday to the masters. that was one of the most intense, exhilarating, edge of your seat sporting events I have ever watched.

granted the whole story line w/ Tiger was the main feature but keep in mind there were at least 10 golfers ALL in contention for most of that last round. you couldn't just help but get caught up in that excitement - it was pretty fricken cool.

i was going back and forth w/ my buddy (he is a golfer) and i asked him why do they all take so long to make a putt. he explained to me that putting on a course like that is like trying to putt on a glass table. then you add in the other factors such as the slopes on the green and it makes for even the closest putts so much harder than what it looks like. not to mention what they are all playing for....

who would have thought golf was that intense!!

I love all the haters trying to make excuses for Tiger Woods winning. People saying that certain people lost it instead of Tiger winning it. No one told Molinari to put a ball in the water on 12 and 15. No one told Brooks to put a ball in the water on 12 as well. He did what he had to do to win. Stayed away from the big numbers and on holes 12-17 played smart / aggressive golf. Tee shot on 18 wasn't the best. Once he saw Brooks miss the birdie putt on 18 he knew all he had to do was get down in 4 shots from the right side of the fairway.

Like your friend mentioned the greens at Augusta National are brutal. Just take a look at Brooks putt on 16 and where he had to aim the putt. While the greens are typically very fast they were not as fast as they typically play due to the humidity in the air.

well no doubt Molinari folded to the pressure. still don't get how him and finau were so short on the 12th. not sure if it was just a miss hit, the pressure or both. but regardless Tiger was aggressive and smart in that spot....but not only that spot but the whole round. Tiger was playing to win and you could see the focus in his eyes.

in regards to the greens....do they prepare it that way for the tournament to increase the difficulty level? it's amazing to watch them make those reads and still have that speed control

I am not sure how they keep the greens for the regular members. I bet they keep them crazy fast, but probably not as fast as they would be for the Master's. Augusta is one of the only courses in the Southeast I have not been able to get onto, as is is crazy private.

from what I've read it seems like a very exclusive course/club.

by me we have bethpage black course and shinnecock hills. i know my good friend has played the bethpage black course and he says it was very difficult.

i get frustrated at the driving range lol i dare not go to these courses. maybe a pitch and putt!

Been trying to get up to Bethpage and play the black course. Yes it is very difficult. The PGA Championship is there in May. Shinnecock Hills is another very exclusive course as well at National Golf Links of America across the street. :armfold

Yea I wouldn't spend that kind of money either. I heard traffic for those events on long island is pretty bad.
