I'd agree, but I thought Lords of Salem was dogshit.
That's the best one. (or tied with House of 1000 Corpses)

The only thing I enjoyed about the first movie was the ending with free bird and then seed of memory by Terry reid on the end credits.

Only thing I remember it for was proving Magenta from Rocky Horror is still alive. I was bored all the way through it, waiting for something decent to happen.

The images in my sig express my feelings on the film as a whole. Ending is such a realized hellscape; tremendous.

TDR's ending was perfect, why would they make a sequel so long after ? Makes no sense. Smh

Richard Brake is in this, which means he has to battle the Firefly clan on the psychosis/evil scale. There's no other path.

Re: The Devils Rejects; Three From Hell (2019)

OK, I'm a huge horror movie buff and like every sub-genre going.

That said, I thought The Devil's Rejects was a horrible movie. The depiction of murderers and rapists as anti-heroes is a well-used trope in horror, and I don't have issues with that in general. But in TDR, Zombie takes such delight in the main characters' sick actions - and puts them over with such a level of sympathy in several scenes - that it goes way further than showing them as anti-heroes.

They are given a full-on HERO's death in the end, unerringly facing a hail of bullets, Bonnie-&-Clyde style.
I just found it really difficult to accept Zombie's attitude towards them as some kind of misunderstood outcasts that deserved anything but absolute revulsion.

I'm not saying it's a bad movie, or that it's poorly made. It certainly is Rob Zombie's only watchable film. But am I missing something that so many see in TDR, for people to hail it this huge masterpiece? Honestly interested in replies :)

I agree with you. That film messed me up and I thought I was pretty unflappable to horror before that. I feel there must be something deeply wrong with Zombie to depict those characters in that fashion. I didn't want to accept them as heroes and he forced me to against the grain. It's a super uncomfortable film to watch lol.

Having seen this thread of so many people that like it, I actually watched TDR again - it's free on Amazon Prime.

Gotta say, I did enjoy it a little more for the dark humour, and the acting was more impressive than I remembered. But yeah, the main characters are just totally unlikable, and that's a real problem when the director is pushing so hard for you to see them as heroes.

Evil contra evil isn't pushing for anyone to be a hero.

But The Firefly clan is a great bunch, so I love 'em and glad they're around killing people for fun/on Satan's payroll.

Its gonna be a hard sell for me because Momma was always my favourite character. Add in no Tiny, RJ or Hugo and I don't have much reason to care. Yes I'm aware the actors of Tiny and Hugo died.

Looking forward to it. I like Rob Zombie's work. Have seen all the Halloween movies multiple times and his two movies are among my favorite. Just watched 31 the other day and thought it was pretty good. Better than I had expected.

Lord's of Salem was pretty garbage.

It's been what? 15 years since devil's? I'll probably catch this when it's in the bargain bin two weeks after it comes out.
