So, what were your thoughts on the crowd at WM?

In my personal opinion, I didn't mind the crowd. There were a lot of moments where the crowd was really into a match (like Taker v. HHH) and then there were some parts where there were complete silence (Cole promo). I've seen alot of people say this crowd was particularly dead, and I think why it was harder to hear the crowd is because of the arena. The Georgia Dome is huge, and it's so spread out. Other than that, I thought the crowd was alright.

I thought the crowd was really good, they were into most of the matches and the Rock had hyped them up well at the start, That was until we got to the main event where apart from a few boos for Cena as he entered, the crowd was more dead than any WWE crowd in recent years. They literally didnt care about Miz or Cena and were just waiting for the Rock to enter. Even though the main event performances, from Cena in particular, weren't great I feel that the atmosphere of the crowd contributed to how poor of a main event this was until ROck showed up.

You'd have had to be physically in the dome with us to know what it was like, since like a previous poster said, sound carries like crap in the Dome. From my perspective, that place was buzzing all night.

There's already a thread on this a couple pages back but I'll just re-post what I said there:

"As someebody that studies Audio and knows how these things work, I can honestly say that it's WWE's fault from a production standpoint. It really pains me to stay that because their production values are always top notch but for some reason, they're fucking shit at how to mic crowds in big stadiums.

I'm not sure if they're not using enough omni-directional mics in the crowd or if it's the mix itself but the last few years, Wrestlemania audio has been absolute garbage. I'm imagining that the problem is that they're only mic'ing the lower-bowl of the arena and disregarding the higher portion which is making a totally inaccurate balance of sound.

Just my take. All in all, the production team has to get their ass together.

I will say though, when I attended Wrestlemania 23, it was fucking dead so maybe I'm wrong here - who knows?"

Wrestlemania has always been more silent than regular shows. First of all you have a crowd of 70 thousand people far from all watches WWE regularly, so far from all gets excited about everything. Second, the arenas are much much bigger, compared to a closed stadium.

This WM crowd was better than previous years.

The crowd was good when something good happened, like Taker/HHH. And they were quiet for stuff they didn't care about, which happened to coincide with the stuff I didn't care about, like Cena/Miz pre-Rock appearance.

I didn't think the crowd was as bad as people were saying.

the crowd wer crap cus they booed cena. i mean how ungrateful is that the wwe would not exist without cena he rescued it.
:lmao

WWE would not exist without Cena?! Fucking Cena?! I think you're confusing 2005 with an era where WWE had actual competition and needed someone to rescue them, because now it doesn't matter what they do, and WWE have proved this time and again by not caring what the crowd thinks of Cena. The crowd were good, they are people who have gotten sick of Cena, I have nothing but respect for Cena and the talent he possesses, but his superman character is the most annoying gimmick I've ever watched. Although judging by your posts, I guess you dont get the idea of characters and storyline, and that its still real to you, dammit.

I honestly dont think a crowd of over 70,000 would be QUIET for a wrestlemania PPV. I think the venue has alot to do with it. Since its such a massive stadium, the crowd noise would not be as loud as it would in a small stadium something like the Allstate arena in chicago, think back to Mania 22. The actuall noise of the crowd came off alot louder on TV than compared to the crowd at say Mania 25. The size of the stadiums play a big part in how the noise of the crowd comes off on TV.
