With the predicted card they won't be getting anywhere near to last years. Probably around 800000 buys. With a Cena/Orton Title match (which I still hope for) the buyrate would be a lot better, it could very well be over a million buys.
:lmao

Yep. The worst drawing Raw main event feud of 2009 is going to bring over a million buys at Wrestlemania. That has to be one of the dumbest things I've read on this forum.

Wrestlemania has gone over a million three times in history; the peak of Austin/Rock, and when Donald Trump and Mayweather got involved. The closest they ever got to hitting that number without any outside attention since WM17 was with Wrestlemania 21 (just 15,000 short). A Wrestlemania that was happening at the same time as a surge in domestic business thanks to Batista/Triple H and was aided by the Cena, HBK/Angle, MITB and Orton/Taker. A changing of the guard moment that happened perfectly, and has only ever happened once in history in such a manner.

Not to mention, the biggest factor against Wrestlemania: the domestic buys being on a decline with the domestic buyrate for the past two Wrestlemania shows some of the worst ever.

While Wrestlemania 21, 22, 23 and 24 were doing around 650 - 700,000+. Wrestlemania 25 and 26 did around 500,000.

And there's no Trump or Mayweather to help with the mainstream this year. Even with Cena/Orton, they'd bomb. If anything, it's a wiser choice to go Cena/Miz over that because it's a fresh option which if built right could generate buzz within the fanbase. With Cena/Orton...there's a set precedence of them flopping several PPV's in a row just a little while back.

It's amazing how many people think this shit match is some kind of draw.

Okay, seriously? It isn't a Justin Bieber concert. He would get maybe 15 minutes of air time total, there is no way in hell anyone not already buying Wrestlemania is going to pay $60 to see him for 15 minutes. They could just go to one of his shows for $35, or his new movie for $15.

Bieber will not draw any buys for WWE.

Its not just him, its the media attention.

I mean the entire concept of Wrestlemania was built on celebrities. Cyndi 'girls just wanna have fun' Lauper is the person who created the Rock and Wrestling connection and she was the one who made the first Wrestlemania possible.

I know it sucks, but its how the industry works.

I dont know a lot of teenage girls that watch WWE, and even if they dont, why would they pay $60 for a PPV just for bieber? I dont think Bieber would draw more PPV buyrates.

Also Orton vs Cena at Wrestlemania for the Undisputed Championship would do 1m buys alone, that match would be like a Austin vs Rock type, but I think WWE will save that for next years Wrestlemania.

I don't know, but its going to be alot. I work for comcast in the philly/nj region and last years wrestlemania, it was nonstop (8 hours straight) calls from people who had to pay their cable bill to order wrestlemania. I got off at midnight and people were still trying to order the replay.

Interest in WWE is continuing to fall. WM buys have decreased every year since 24. Last years card got 885,000 buys during a hot period with an extremely stacked card including Batista/Cena, Edge/Jericho, the long awaited Bret Hart/Vince Mcmahon, Triple H/Sheamus, and of course one of the most built and anticipated matches in history, Shawn Michaels vs The Undertaker career versus streak.

Fast forward one year. WWE is boring, has 0 star power, and has no feuds. WM looks to feature Miz/Cena (not nearly as entertaining or intriguing as Batista/Cena), ADR/Edge (no build for this match at all, compared to pretty significant build for Edge/Jericho), Orton/Punk (Great if WWE lets them have a long evenly booked match), Taker may or may not be there, and the mid card is booked embarrassingly bad. The big selling point for this years WM is a guest host. I don't think it matters one way or another who it is, a host won't make a difference. No one is going to spend $60 for a PPV they wouldn't otherwise buy for the chance to see Justin Beiber or The Rock for a few minutes. I'd say WWE is lucky to get 800,000 buys this year considering what they're offering.

This is Wrestlemania. It's not about workrate, it's about who sells PPVs. WWE is aimed at casual fans, not the IWC.

I for one can not understand how anyone, whether casual or smark, can prefer Cena/Miz and Orton/Punk (two matches that should headline Summerslam at best) over Cena/Orton.

If these two matches indeed happened, Wrestlemania will absolutely suck(qualitiy and business wise).
I disagree with one thing you said: That Miz/Cena should not happen.

The Miz vs John Cena at WrestleMania would be the deciding factor in weather The Miz becomes that next potential 'guy' that Vince was talking about on the dirtsheets this week or just another youth movement failure like Swagger or Sheamus.

The Undertaker match will be the main draw on the card as it was last year, but to say that The Miz who Vince McMahon has given a huge responsibility and invested so much into to not atleast main event WrestleMania this year is just wrong.

Del Rio is in exactly the same boat, if he loses the WHC match he's got a long ladder to climb before he's considered truly credible again and his Royal Rumble win will mean nothing, as it has for many years.

It's important long term for the business, The Miz must defeat his challenger at WrestleMania.

If i had to guess I would say 850,000 based on the projected card now. If they were able to bring in Sting, I think it could reach a mil.

As far as Bieber is concerned, that's nonsense. Yes he would bring some attention but who doesn't know about WM? Even someone who doesn't watch wrestling at all knows what WM is. Unless you're telling me he's gonna wrestle (fpalm @ the idea of that), no one that cares about him is gonna buy WM.

Guys, now that the Rock, Undertaker, Triple H, Chris Jericho (most likely), are all coming back in time for Wrestlemania, what do you think the buyrate will be now? I think it will pass Wrestlemania 25's record if all these stars come back

Since when is Chris Jericho supposed to be back?

By the way, Wrestlemania 25 does not hold the record for PPV buyrates, Mania 23 does.

This Wrestlemania will sell good I think. It has Justin Bieber, The Rock, him and Cena having some beef, hopefully we can see some interactions between them, and a month and a half to go. In that month and a half we most likely will see the returns of Undertaker, Triple H, maybe just maybe Christian and/or Jericho, and who knows what else we could see with a month and a half to go until Wrestlemania.
