This OC booking is fucking ludicrous

Why are they treating this scrawny little fool like he's prime Hogan? That shit tonight was beyond ridiculous.

The guy is a fucking comedy act who literally mocks the business with his bullshit, and yet he's the most protected guy on the roster and currently being presented as absolutely UNSTOPPABLE.

Fuck Tony Khan and his weird little nerd fetish.

This picture perfectly sums up AEW, it's booking and its marks.

Exactly. You all moan in here and no, he isn't legit main event material in the making. You're all missing the bigger picture here in that he's competant and gets a great reaction on a weekly basis.

I could take or leave him but I can see a huge appeal to kids and teens especially, let alone live crowd fun.

The last part is definitely true, no doubt about it. He looks almost as if he travelled in a time machine from about 2006.

I guarantee that if he did win though, the pissing and moaning on here would've been unreal.
Being booked to win 20 matches in a row isn’t competent ... It’s John Cena unbeatable force booking.

It's ridiculous. I knew he wasn't going to lose. It's beggars belief. Glad I'm not the only one that can see, the guy drags the program down.

I'm telling you now that international title will be retired in 5 years, with Orange Cassidy still holding it and you'd put the title and that fucking Jean jacket in the rafters.

I'm looking through his challengers, like I don't get it. Half are like Kip Sabian, Lee Mortiarty, Trent Seven, QT Marshall etc.

The highest level guy he's beaten is maybe Fenix since he was a tag champ, and that was in a three way.

Most of these guys are just lower midcarders, I'd call 0 of them upper midcard.

Jeff Jarrett is a former world champion with a shit ton of experience. Jay Lethal is also a notable vet. Big Bill is a big guy who should really be squashing guys like OC. OC also essentially undermines wrestlers with the pockets and the kicks. Wrestlers looks dumb when he just stands there and takes it.

I was mostly going by kayfabe in AEW itself, none of the three really held anything in the company. I always found his gimmick to be deceptive, he just fucks with people so they won't take him seriously and then outsmart them or surprise them with what he is able to do.

But it also depends on how you personally view OC too. He isn't my favorite, but there is something there clearly they should be using which they are. I assume some people here are mostly pissed because they think he's garbage, too small, should be fired, or a combination of the three.

All I ever garnered from his vocal haters.

The absolute irony in this, given that Orange Cassidy is older than every current champ in wwe
And he’s not some 2 decades into his career guy who just returns to take someone’s spot. He’s a relatively new character to the audiences, so you can for that “A Ha, gotcha” bullshit.

The problem with this is that AEW recognise wrestlers achievements outside of their 4 walls. Therefore, we have to also consider it when critiquing AEW. Also, with what you’re saying about kayfabe, it would be like saying “brock lesnar never achieved anything in AEW so he can be squashed by Oc”

I think that this Orange Cassidy run will definitely end with something cooler than Jeff Jarrett winning the belt. I can't believe people really wanted this? I've actually surprisingly enjoyed this Jarrett AEW run but most of the time people are complaining that JJ's even getting TV time in 2023 and now it's bad booking to not put a belt on him?

The ‘deceptive’ gimmick kind of grates on me.

It’s like there’s a hard reset for each of his matches and none of his opponents has ever seen that the baby kicks are a set-up.

It’s like Charlie Brown falling for Lucy snatching the football away every time.

I don‘t really need or want to see JJ on my TV at this stage of his career (or my viewing career) … BUT I also see him as a perfect guy to get real heat with the AEW audience so I could have seen some merit to him winning the title (especially over a popular act like OC) just to take that heat to a more nuclear level.

Then they’d have to do something with it — have him hold it for a while by hook or crook before someone comes along to give him his comeuppance.

Cassidy isn’t my cup of tea but it’s obvious a lot of people like him so I don’t have any problem with making him a staple of AEW weekly TV. I just think a 20-match win streak where he’s Superman punching a giant into submission and no-selling getting bonked on the head with a heavy metal object (which in the same show a similar spot put Hangman out) is a bit too much.

Who is he beating though?
What's really ludicrous is how wound up people get over it. He's for kids, guys. Take a breath, it's only fucking pro-wrestling.

He must be doing pretty well for them or they wouldn't be putting him on TV so much, hard as that might be to believe, it is pretty justified. Far more than any outrage about realism or what damage he's doing to this hallowed and sanctified business.

I put together the list of people he has beaten in another thread and it was ignored (as expected). With the way people are acting you would think OC is beating main eventers weekly. The guy is holding the 3rd biggest men's title in AEW and working with mostly undercard talent. All of this while still selling merch and being consistent in the ratings. There is a reason that the network asked for him to be in the match promoting Shazam. Could you imagine if Wardlow was beating this cast of characters every week? This place would complain that he working with mostly nobodies.

Here is that list btw:
  • Jay Lethal (2x)
  • Big Bill - Protected loss
  • Wheeler Yuta
  • Lee Moriarty
  • Kip Sabian
  • Trent Baretta
  • Trent Seven
  • QT Marshall
  • Jake Hager
  • Lee Johnson
  • Katsuyori Shibata
  • Triple threat with Luchasaurus and Rey Fenix - Fenix is pinned. A lot of interference from Jungle Boy
  • Triple threat with Rush and 10 - Ten is pinned
  • Won the title from Pac

Every single one of those guys should beat the comedic wrestler easily.
