Why is wwe so into twitter, it seems like cole/jerry can't go 2 min without mentioning whats trending

twitter is overrated, it takes very little for something to trend, some kiddies want "bieber" to trend and it does, big deal

tna got big worldwide trends when they went live a few weeks back, for 3 hours something tna related was trending, ratings never moved

is this vince just out of touch, does he think this is something "new and cool" the teenagers are doing so he's running with it?

To be honest it isn't just a WWE thing. TNA do It just as much if not more. Can't remember which PPV it was but I even remember TNA having a small backstage promo reading a couple tweets :lol

Frankly both companies especially WWE are just trying to keep relevant. Which is good but there is no need to promote it so damn much.

I love twitter personally since I use it to follow my favorite athletes, wrestlers, and celebrities. It's cool to get messages straight from people you have respect and love for and then be able to respond to those messages.

I know it is not everybodys thing, but I am happy it exists and that it has been embraced so widely personally.

So, wait, when things trend during RAW, is it a global trend or just a "flavor" trend?

Free advertising free worldwide exposure. People who dont watch the product are going to come across WWE frequently it helps remind people and bring in more people. Whats more its free yet it will make them money.

It depends on your settingss there is a global trend, which WWE is often trend on. then like United States trends, China trends, ect.

Well I don't know if trending helps ratings but it can't hurt Any advertising is good. so say somebody on twitter isn't watching Raw, and Stone Cold is trending, they might want to turn on Raw to watch him.

Obviously the millions of people who post things on Twitter care.

Its also a reflection for them to see if an angle works or doesn't work with instant results.

if they care so much how come when tna trends all night, but the ratings never change either way

if there going solely on what people are saying on twitter there dead wrong

and what about these online polls, does anybody actually think there not rigged

i fear that we the "universe" will become the new gm, and these "polls" will be all over the show

In a era of Video streaming, youtube and Hulu. Ratings are alot less important than lets say 10 years ago. Alot of people watch WWE the next day on Hulu or youtube.
Twitter is a good way to measure interest and get views on streaming which equals more revenue.
Its also free advertising so its always good.

Its not Just WWE thats using twitter alot of TV shows promote the Hashtags while they air, to drum up interest in a show, like it or not social media is the future of entertainment. In the next few years ratings will cease to be important and things like social media will sell commercial slots for revenue plus a subscription model.

TBH Ratings are not as important as they used to be (Still important though but its a smaller slice of pie)
