Hogan vs Andre from Saturday Nights Main Event in 1998 drew a 15.2 rating.

Undertaker vs. Steve Austin from Raw in 1999 drew a 9.5 Rating

Compare that to today, where we have boring ass Richocet, boring Drew and overrated Becky Lynch who consistently bring in low Ratings.

But Dave the fag Meltzer said Drew and boring ass Ricochet are stars just like Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Austin Rock Taker, etc

Cue the excuses as to why boring ass Drew can't bring a 9.5 Rating for Raw as WWE Champion.

I'm curious. Who do you think you're going to offend with anything you just said?

Do you really believe there are people here (or anywhere for that matter) who think that Drew and Ricochet are on the level of the greats like Rock and Austin? I don't get the point of this thread.
People constantly make excuses when their heroes plummet Raw ratings. Also the trash workrate fans always try to put boring Drew over Austin and Taker because "hrrr workrate"

The top-rated shows in 1999 earned a rating more than TRIPLE that of the highest-rated shows today. That definitely means the old shows were 3-4 times as good, right? Right?!?

Honestly, as a community, can we start screening these people?
So uh why can't Boring ass Ricochet draw those high ratings? Are you gonna give a reason or make excuses?

Ratings have plummeted for everything, kiddo. Fucking Everybody Loves Raymond AVERAGED an 11.2 in 1999, something even the best shows can’t touch in 2020. Was that trash comedy better than everything on now? Of course not, so your “argument,” if I can charitably call it that, is misinformed nonsense.

Another stupid pointless thread.

What amuses me is that people like the OP actually think that guys like Hogan or Andre or Austin are so much better talents then the current generation which is bullshit.

Hogan in a vacuum was nothing special. His promos were corny and was mostly the same old 5 catchphraseses. He was nothing special in the ring compared to current generation and his finisher was one of the fakest and most unrealistic acts ever.

The real reason wrestling isn’t what it used to be is becuase back then shit felt real and it really was.

Those guys were bleeding for real isn’t heir matches , had real rivalries backstage and in the ring and when someone was in a feud , they looked like they really hate each other - they were hitting each other with chairs to the head, they were all covered in their own blood and kept fighting and backstage they were doing everything they can to protect themselves and to be hooked to win.

When someone beat Hogan it was a big deal because for Hogan to agree to lose it meant the other guy really is headed to the top.

The brutality of some of the spots were unmatched even by real sports like today’s ufc.

And also all those guys were free to do whatever it takes to look like top guys , including using steroids .

Get a guy like Corbin, allow him to roid up until he looks like prime time Undertaker , then allow him to destroy his opponents by busing their heads open and making them bleed every match, make him protected like HHH was so he barely loses and you will have a character that is no worse than the old Undertaker .

What makes this era lose ratings is that everything is far too mild, people are happy to just be on TV and have matches , every move is micromanaged to no one ever gets hurt and so it all looks too scripted and too fake.

The talents can really not do anything . A great promo can only do so much if all it leads to is a generic 20 min match with clean finish and no shenanigans .

This whole idea that Hogan or Taker or Andre was so much better in ring or in promos needs to end. Take the crowd reaction away like how it currently is, put their promos in a vacuum and you will see that those guys really weren’t all that social by themselves without the rowdy crowds, the steroid bodies and the special effects like blood, chair shots , etc etc

Comparing TV ratings from 1999 to 2020 is comical. It's an absolutely worthless comparison. It would be like comparing web cam sales today vs. 2005, saying that they're way down, and concluding that people aren't interested in video chatting. It disregards how the world has drastically changed.

WWE has a lot of problems because they have been losing fans year in and year out. They're getting more money per fan today than they were during the Attitude Era but there way less people supporting them right now. Look at their live numbers, they're also down.

I think WWE has a problem with making stars. WWE is the least cool thing in the world. They can't create something that's cool. When a wrestling does something cool on his own their attempt to run with it is like listening to a middle aged man call things "lit." Think about Suplex City. Brock Lesnar says something cool on his own at Wresltemania 31. At Wrestlemania 32 we have WWE putting up a lame ass suplex counter on screens and Heyman getting everyone to count the suplexes...

Wrestling in 2020 is like watching two sports teams that you don't care who wins, you just want to see a good game. That's different than your favorite team who you are rooting for playing and you can't wait to tune in and watch.

But there's a lot of things on TV that still get really high ratings, shows that you've probably never even heard of... So you can't blame the year we're in for the reason numbers are down. They're down because the product (mostly) sucks, and these empty arena shows are really starting to wear on people. There's no atmosphere to them.
