I might get flamed for this but I feel that The Shield is a much better stable than Evolution overall. Shield is more original than Evolution from the unique promos to the entrance and ring gear. Evolution was just a revamp of the 4 horsemen. The Shield put on some classic matches as a team, whereas Evolution was all about HHH keeping the title.
All members of the Shield bring something unique to the group. Evolution was mostly HHH and Randy Orton (though Ric Flair was a great manager) Batista was bland until late 2004. Yes, Evolution has the coolest theme music of all times but apart from that The Shield are just better everywhere else. Thoughts?

They're in the same echelon.

If you wanna talk amount of great of matches, The Shield is miles ahead of every stable in history, but Evolution carried Raw from late 2002 to the middle of 2005. That's well over 2 and half years.

how the fuck did Evolution carried RAW during 2003-2005? People were turning away because of the reign of terror and SmackDown being the better show.

There about on the same playing field. The Shield have had the better matches, but Evolution is by far the only stable that got under my skin (which is a testament to their heel character). I would put the Shield slightly above them, but ever since WWE turned that group into ''Roman Reigns and friends'' was when I lost interest in them.

What makes something in pro wrestling better than the other? Money drawn (a difficult to calculate aspect)? Match quality? Titles won? Heat gained?

Its difficult. I've really liked the Shield because it was pretty different to see trios matches on WWE programming and they've had many great matches establishing three guys in the upper midcard.

Evolution, though, launched the careers of Batista and Orton, two of the top guys of the last 10 years

hard to determine

Evolution 2.0 just reformed. I'll wait till Extreme Rules to give my opinion on that.

But Evolution, 10 years ago, was running the show and I don't think The Shield can compete in that league yet.

Evolution lauched the carreers of both Batista and Orton and lokk how successfull they've been since !

The sight of them together on the ramp, with all the titles at the end of Armageddon 2003, we won't see it again.

And just sayin : Randy Orton, at the age of 24, acomplished more than all 3 shield's members combined.

Comparing them now is ridiculous. Let's compare them in ten years when Shield's memebers have all acomplished great things individually (maybe they won't be able to).

Evolution was running the show because HHH was the leader and the top guy on RAW at the time, he was also the WHC. Randy and Batista had the push from HHH to elevate them. That would be like having a heel Cena being the leader of The Shield, if that was the case they'd be running the show also. The Shield has 3 guys who have only been part of the main roster for a year and a half, I think it's damn great what theyve achieved as a stable in that time.

considering raw was the weaker program during that time period, they didn't do that great of a job of "carrying" the show

I wouldn't compare The Shield to Evolution. Roman Reigns is what Orton was to Legacy. The other two are pretty much like Cody Rhodes and Ted Dibiase, only there to help the main guy.

Roman Reigns is The Shield

Evolution at the time had a legend (Ric Flair) and a well established Triple H, Shield had three newcomers. it's hard to judge.

I think they're both great but I just like the shield better. I feel like they have better chemistry/dynamic and they really feel like more of a team to me most of the time (even though Reigns is getting pushed as top dog.)

On the other hand, Evolution was much more dominant and really helped Orton and Batista. They also had star power in Trips and Flair. Guess, I'll just have to wait and see where Ambrose, Reigns, and Rollins go after this.
