4 years ago tonight, I got to attend Backlash 2018 and saw the great IC Title opener of Rollins/Miz. Excellent match and easily MOTN. Metlzer gave it 4.25 stars. Glad I got to see a great Rollins match in person in my home-state:

Another great match for Seth. From a match standpoint, I can't even remember the last time he had a bad match on TV/PPV. And that's not an exaggeration. At this point, I think he's evolved into being the best guy in the company from a consistent high-quality match standpoint. I don't think there is anyone in the company for awhile now is who more consistent from a match quality standpoint.

I have to go back and watch this one again later this week. Didn't think they'd come close to their WM match, but I think they did. I was fairly confident they'd have great chemistry, but didn't think it'd be this good.

It's gonna be fun when Seth starts to win feuds again now that's he's become an even better worker than he ever was. Looking forward to it. Hope Seth/Cody has a HIAC match. Would be interested to see if a Seth/Cody HIAC match can top the Seth/Edge one from Crown Jewel late last year.

Anyway, from a match quality standpoint, Seth is on the run of his career and there is literally no one in WWE more consistent these days when it comes to that.

I was thinking this exact same thing during RAW last night. He has not had a bad or average match since that Fiend fiasco in 2019 and he has lost every PPV besides SvS for almost a year now but still feels like one of the top stars in the company.

Cody keeps stressing in backstage kayfabe interviews that he's "ready to move on from Seth" after beating him twice. So obviously that means that Seth is probably gonna try to goad him into one more match, given the roll-up-holding-the-tights finish. That should, of course, fail, compelling Seth to do something truly violent and vicious to Cody, to motivate one more match inside Hell In A Cell. He'll, of course, lose that match, but it should be another great one because, as you said, he's been on a tremendous run of matches, particularly since SummerSlam 2021.

(I kind of think there'll possibly be only one more PLE Cell match, and it'll be Rousey vs Baszler, given their MMA cage background.)

Very happy that we're getting this great feud extended and a HIAC match to boot! If this match is half as good as the Rollins/Edge HIAC match, we're in for something special again.

Would love to see Seth get a reputation for being a great HIAC match worker. The one with Ambrose in 2014, Owens in 2016, Edge in 2021, and hopefully Cody in 2022. He's building a GREAT HIAC resume.

Anyway, loved the back and forth between Seth and Cody tonight. Their great chemistry extends to their promos, too. Looking forward to the HIAC match big time.

Absolutely brilliant match last night between Seth and Cody. Working with a guy with a fully-torn pec in a HIAC match couldn't have been easy. The fact that they got through it without anything bad happening to either guy AND the match being great is absolutely amazing.

No one has been more consistent than Seth for awhile now. Between the trilogy with Edge late last year and now this one with Cody, and all the matches in between, it's been an absolute pleasure to watch him continue to get better and better as time goes on.

Another excellent Seth/Cody segment.

Seth has gotten so good on the mic these days. He turned the babyface charm on in that promo and it really felt like it could be real. He came off as so genuine in being nice to Cody. And then of course, like the slimeball he is, he lulls Cody into a false sense of security and attacks him when he gets to the top of the entrance-way. Great stuff.

New Seth picture in the OP of this thread. Had to after I saw Seth tweet it out.

Haha, that segment was the best part of last night's show.

I saw some people reacting to Seth's babyface promo and being like "this is it, they're turning Seth into the top babyface on RAW now that Cody is injured".

The "Dusty is very proud of his baby boy" line was great.

Cody starts crying and even applauding Seth... Then BOOM! Sledgehammer to the back! AW SONUVABITCH!

Seth FREAKIN' Rollins strikes again.

For a second, I thought they might turn him, too. It's good to see he can easily turn that babyface charm on at the drop of a hat and fool so many people. That face-turn down the road is gonna be something else when it eventually happens.

SETH AND CODY GOT THE FIRST MAIN-ROSTER 5-STAR MATCH SINCE PUNK/CENA MITB 2011:

So richly fucking deserved. Best performers on the roster. Here's the write-up from Meltzer:

"Cody Rhodes pinned Seth Rollins in a Hell in a Cell match in 24:20. Rollins came out wearing polka dots to mock Dusty Rhodes. I guess nobody remembers Dusty’s last post days before his death. Rollins started laughing when he saw Rhodes’ chest. Rollins used a kendo stick to the right arm and throat and then jabbed it into the chest. Rollins knocked Rhodes off the apron into the cage. He again used the kendo stick to the chest. Rhodes came back with left-handed clotheslines. Rollins drove the steps into Rhodes. Rollins whipped Rhodes in the chest with his weight belt which had to hurt a ridiculous amount. Fans started singing Rollins’ theme here. Rollins whipped him more with the weight belt. Fans cheered Rollins as he went to get a table. Graves called the fans maniacs, and not in a good way, when they cheered Rollins getting a table, given the match story he was calling. Fans also started chanting “Thank you Rollins” with the idea he was about to put Rhodes through a table. A lot of fans then started booing the maniac fans who wanted to see Rhodes hurt worse. Rollins missed a splash and went through the table. Rhodes got the weight belt, but threw it away, and went under the ring to get a bullrope. Rhodes put it on and told Rollins to put it on. Rollins did. Rollins ended up bleeding from the left arm. Rhodes hit Rollins with the cowbell for a near fall. Rollins pulled Rhodes into the post twice. Rollins used a superkick and a power bomb putting Rhodes through a table for a near fall. Rollins then got a sledgehammer. Rhodes kicked Rollins and hit a pedigree for a near fall. Rollins hit a curb stomp for a near fall. He missed a second one. Rollins used crossroads for a near fall. Rhodes used it for a near fall. Rhodes won after two more crossroads, then got the sledgehammer and hit Rollins with it for the pin. 5 Stars"

Great Rollins/Styles match last night. I hate to sound like a broken record, but Jesus, Seth is really on the roll of a lifetime right now in terms of everything he's doing. He's just on another level. Really enjoyed that match. Good to see him get a rare win these days, too.
