When you think about it, Ruthless aggression era really started with a Vince mcmahon promo on RAW.

So this awesome heel promo by Triple H tonight, coining the term officially and initiating it, might just be the beginning of a new era in WWE. What do you think?

And honestly, RAW these last two years have been so different in lot of ways compared to the past 5-6 years we fondly refer to as the "PG era", maybe the new era has already started, we just don't realize it.

Reality Era started with the Pipebomb, but it is nice to hear it be used officially.

But that was just some IWC fantasy though, by NOC PPV that year, Cena had already won the title back that he lost to punk at MITB and he still represented the PG era. Right now however, Bryan seems like the face of WWE and Cena a mid card act, that's change. Punk has nothing to do with that... except walkout I guess.

I thiink it was just an idea for his promo. The Reality he was talking about was referring to Bryan facing reality, not WWE blending real and fake.

The answer is No. It means nothing. We are still in the same watered down wrestling era that we've been in for years. Have you seen the show getting edgier? What honestly indicates that it is a new era? It's just WWE propaganda to get fans sturred up. Don't fall for it. I mean have you been watching the SHOWS? There is no different direction then they've been doing in years in my book when it comes to a ''change in a whole era''

I wouldn't even call this the PG era anymore. CAUSE PG is more hardcore than the crap on TV. I seen PG shows that were EDGY as fuck. And WCW was edgy awesome PG.

This is a Rated G era TV-Y era.

There is more corny kiddy stuff then manly stuff on WWE. That should answer it for you.

Yeah I agree with those saying he's just heeling it up. This isn't a start to any type of era. Hell the Diva's have been in the "Reality Era" ever since Total Divas but that's about it.

He's just heeling it up, meanwhile RAW is promoting movies, dvds, Scooby doo, we are still knee deep in this PG era
This.

He wasn't being serious, was just buzz words and he was being a heel.
Original posters point is though could this be something you look back on as a starting point. Everyone's always "just being a face or a heel". Vince was "just being a heel" when he said the Ruthless Agression comment. It wasn't like the next week they said "welcome to the Ruthless Aggression era". It's usually an intangible moment which is looked back upon in retrospect as an invisble starting point to define a new era.

I said a while back it seemed like we had now entered the "PG-13 era" and it felt like the tide was turning similar to '96/97 as you could feel the product changing into what eventually would become the "Attitude Era" from the cartoon era of 93-95. The product is definitely not as soft as it was during those dark, dark days a few years back with The Miz as heavyweight champ, The Spirit Squad, watered down DX, heel Michael Cole, etc. And I'd say it's not even as soft as it was a year or so ago when it seemed like almost every single match involved some character that came out who's only character trait was that they danced.

The product is becoming more aggressive, there's less dancing and kiddie shit, there's new characters who are over and aren't just cookie-cutter generic looking bodybuilders (Wyatt's, Shield), and the fans are choosing who they want to cheer for and who they boo (whether they be a face or a heel). Yes, we're still going to get spammed with product placement and advertising and they're not going to fully alienate the kids demographic, but that's simply a reality of being a public company and needing to ever-increase your bottom line to shareholders.

It's not going to happen over night, but I think a change has definitely begun which will be looked back upon later to define the new era (whatever it ends up being called).

PG Era ended at WM29. Reality Era began at Summerslam 2013. Today was just the first time they acknowledged it.

Idiots claiming that Scooby-Doo being on the show means it's not a new era :lol

Re: The Reality era begins tonight?

There have been many points where people could say that this 'Reality Era' began. In my opinion it started the night of the Royal Rumble PPV earlier this year. When the fans heavily booed Cena & Orton in their title match (supposedly the greatest rematch of all time, LOL) and mercilessly turned their back on Batista during the Rumble match, whilst cheering on the younger guys throughout the night such as Bryan & Wyatt during their match and Reigns during the Rumble match. This made the WWE wake up and realise that the fans want a change and are beginning to grow tired of the same old stars stealing the spotlight. Since this PPV the fans have become more vocal in their support of the younger generation and displeasure of the older generation and how they are dominating the product.

Since then changes have been made to the WrestleMania match card (Bryan involved in the title match & Batista having no chance in hell of walking out of NOLA with the title) & Wyatt who has been in the company less than a year will take on the biggest star of this generation; John Cena. If Bryan, Wyatt, The Shield walk out with wins as well as a younger competitor winning the Battle Royal we will see the 'Reality Era' come into full effect at WrestleMania XXX. It's time for a change and that change is NOW!
