I've always prefered Family Guy to American Dad. I actually liked 2009-2012 FG. But it's gone down hill since then. Partly I think because the creative vision of the show has gone down the wayside. Since Seth pursued other projects like Ted, Orville etc.

Just watched the fourth episode. Best episode yet. Loved every single part of it. It is so refreshing to see A Sci Fi show actually have an element of fun to it. The Genre seemed to have forgotten that over the past decade or so. Their are so many dark and serious in tone Sci Fi shows out their. This show could really fill the void. A Chuck had, or an Eureka. Seems to be a shift in the fourth episode. The whole premise was so good. I loved the opening sequence. Great dialouge. Seth is really strong as a lead. When he did movies it diddn't work. But this role is perfect for him. He just fits it like a glove. And everyone else is so perfectly casted.

The Location and Set designs are so bang on. With the right comical moments, and alot of heart. Feels like your watching the future. The Special Effects don't feel cheesy either, or low budget. They feel legit. That battle ship war I really enjoyed. Have to agree though Religeous Zealots don't handle scientific proof all that well. So probably would of been an all out war :lol. But I liked they went in the direction of their Captain or Gospel had a hint their is more to their world. And was happy he was wrong. And Liam Neesan just capped it off. Looking forward to next week's one.

Nothing really new or special this week. There was Matt Frewer I mean Charlize Theron guest starring as a time traveler trying to steal something to take to a different time. There was teaching Data I mean Isaac about humor and his hilarious misunderstanding of it. There was Chief Engineer Scotty I mean Geordi I mean O'Brien I mean Steve Newton (I mean I even had to look up his name for this post) saving the day with some old school ingenuity. Oh and this was the episode directed by Jonathan Frakes aka First Officer William Riker.

Episode rating gets a meh. The only thing I'm really wondering about is if the transporter tech disappeared along with Pria. It would make sense if it did but he did kinda put it in his desk and we didn't see it disappear, so it might still be there. That'd probably be the best thing to come out of this episode, if Mercer found himself in a situation later where he had to choose between using it and letting someone die, then facing whatever consequences come from using the future tech. That would be interesting.

This show is just so much fun... it’s nice having a show revellimg in adventure instead of sulking in depression. Hopefully it lasts because I am sick to death of the grim mediocrity that so many shows have stooped to.

What's really odd, is that though they made mention of the fact they should be dead, they didn't talk about how with them now NOT being dead, that they should kill themselves because their existence could cause millions of lives to change or be lost because of it in the future.

IIRC, Mercer did mention it but said something about Pria already having changed the timeline. I just assumed that the whole incident created an alternate timeline; one with the Orville having been destroyed because Pria never came back in time after the wormhole was destroyed and the one the Orville is now living in.

I've yet to really see any film or TV show really do the whole time travel thing in a way that isn't totally confusing. I loved the show Timeless.

I've just presumed the Oriville lives in a timeline skewed in the future.

This weeks episode wasen't as good as last weeks one. But that is fine it was solid. IT has created enough quality for me personally to keep watching. Just enjoy how fun it is.

Just watched the whole episode, only seen bits. I actually really enjoyed this episode. Very light like the rest of it. Could argue it was a filler. But it offered alot of Quality. Some highlights.

The opening Seinfeld sequence was a big surprise. I loved that. The fact they are in deep into the future. And they are watching a iconic sitcom from the nineties haha. Also loved Issac the robot not getting the comedy. Which had a payoff later on in the episode when he amputated Ed's leg, that was pretty laugh out loud funny I Thought.

As for the main plot. With the Black Hole, and time travel. I Did enjoy the tension between the XO and his ex wife. Charlize Theron character created. And Seth's character delving more into his trust issues. This show continues to have a ton of heart. I agree time travel is confusing in TV shows. I took it as she knew they were going to die with the Black Hole. But they diddn't. I agree I just assumed the event created an alternative timeline to what the Orivlle was existing.

Once again it's so refreshing to see a Sci Fi show that's not dark, and depressing in tone. It's really fun. For a show in its first season. A very bold show in that. It's not the finished product yet. But last weeks episode particularly. It's really found it's groove. Seth is surprising me. Man actually showed his range as an actor this episode. He's perfect for this role. I'm hopeful it gets picked up for a second season.

Very strong episode this week. I'd say it's their 2nd best one behind the 4th episode. I loved the part when Ed was explaining the evolution of human skin color to the krill kid. The line about humans worshiping the god of Hertz got a good :lol out of me. Seth is definitely trolling the religitards. The use of real science has been excellent. I'm calling it now. At some point in this series, Neil deGrasse Tyson will have a guest starring role.

I wasn't sure about this show at first and while it's certainly not appointment television for me, it's a fun and pretty light hearted adventure.

Would be funny if hes a worshipper of 20th century science whos on a crusade against 25th century science.

Thank Hertz that I didnt quit after the Pilot. I really like this series. Lighthearted yet serious at times, like Eureka in a way. I hope they get a second season.

Strongest episode of the season so far for me. Well definately since the fourth. I am a Christian. But I have loved the use of real Science. Call me a Sane Christian :lol. Really enjoyed the plot meeting the Krills. And trying to form peace. Then eventually had to kill their crew :lol. I really loved the opening cold open. With the Wasabi haha. I had to laugh when was it Ed or the XO (Seth) pretended to be a Krill "Eat my gun" :lol. If I had to make any comparisons to any show, well show's. Probably Eureka, Star Trek, Red Dwarf. It merges all the best elements out of these shows. It is so light hearted, but with depth. I hope this show get's a second season. Seth had an interview recently, and said it is pretty likely.

Just watched the recent episode. One Word BRILLIANT. It is no hyperbole to say this was one of the most boldest, clever, intelligent, progressive episode of TV I have seen in a long time. The usage of Social Media and Democracy was so good. Definately the episode of the season so far. I wasen't so sure about this show in the pilot. But wow this show has come on. It has to be my favorite new show of the year. This has to be picked up for a second season, it just has to be. It is the best Sci Fi show since Chuck. It is so refreshing to see a show in this genre. That is uplifting and optimistic. It is currently kicking any Sci Fi shows ass right now. Heck even the new Star Trek imo.

I loved the touch on how social media has gone wrong. And likes just like currency. And in a Democracy where this society lives in a more "American Idol" Type Utopia. And when Ed wwas like "Oh it is a popular entertainment show from old earth, where they vote on the best singer" Bortus: "Why?" Ed: "It was a Dark Time" :lol :lol :lol. When John was going on the Talk Show to save his life basically. And his Lawyer is like "Go out their show some positivity". And the way the host was like and now on the show the guy who descicrated the statue John!! The way he ran in high fiving the crowd :duck. And real climax with the positive/negative battle their. The Collobaration Share thing was really clever.

I also love how they are bringing serious issues into the show. I loved this conversation between Lysella and Bortus about Democracy.

Then when Issac was like "I beleive you are confusing opinion with knowledge" Brilliant. IT is interesting topic to delve into. About Democracy. Who's correct? I Think Bortus was. But I also agreeded with Lysella.

The end with "You can make your world better". IS the Star Trek I grew up with. Leaving you off with an Uplifting and Optimistic vibe. Great Episode.

I completely agree with everything you said here. This last episode was absolutely bold and brilliant. The concept of a global culture based upon "upvoting" and "downvoting" each other to regulate behavior... and to present it the way they did... My hat is off to Seth McFarlane. This episode took some stones to film and put on TV.

I am loving this show. :mark:

You guys didn't even get the tie in to the whole statue crap going on in the U.S. right now as well.
Oh yeah that's true. In any case let's hope this show get's picked up for a second season. Seth said he is optimistic about that, so well see.

Another solid episode this week. Very consistent this show. Liked the development of Issac in this episode. It was a good thing he went along with Claire and her kids :lol. His logical ways came in handy. The two actors who played Claire's kids did a good job too. I am really loving the Scenery, CGI, and Cinematography in this show. Each week its such a joy to see which Planet they visit next. And which humans or spicies they inhabit. Another great visit this week. I continue to love the old earth references they keep making. The Barry Manilow reference. Glory Hole was funny. Last weeks was better, was more original and bold. But this episode it was nice to see some character depth with Claire and Issac. Look forward to next weeks one.
