I'm hoping somebody can help me out, I'm currently watching fast & furious Tokyo drift.
I've seen all of them apart from this, the one after it and fast 8.

But Han dies in this, am I missing something because he is in the later films, no? Or am I completely wrong and confused about this?
Tokyo Drift happens sometime after fast 6 and before fast 7

Timeline is all out of whack. Han is introduced in Tokyo Drift, but that actually takes place after the events of 4, 5, and 6. Chronological order is 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 3, 7, then 8. Pay no mind to younger looking Han and Bow Wow in Tokyo Drift and older technology in 2006 Tokyo despite the film taking place after 2013. :D

Vin, for whatever reason, turned down his main role in Tokyo Drift, and instead agreed to appear as a cameo as a sort of tease for a future installment in the franchise. Plus, Chris Morgan who wrote the script said a high school setting/feel is what they had in mind for the 3rd film, so it wouldn't have worked well with Diesel as their lead. His cameo and Han's intro were the only real aspects tying other films together to that 3rd installment (kind of like Star Wars "canon"). The 4th film picks back up with the majority of the original cast, and eventually, Han's Tokyo storyline falls into place following what happens in Fast and Furious 6.

I don't believe Dom's cameo was always intended when they wrote the script for Tokyo Drift, but you have to think they wanted to get him in there somehow, and luckily for the franchise, they managed to convince him back.

This movie is weird. There's a scene in which it was only a dream sequence, but it legitimately made me yell out WHAT! THE! FUCK! This is meant to be a biopic about Franz Lizst, but it seems to be an out of the sort wacky comedy that dwells in perversion and piano music. The sets are great, but there's no story and most of the scenes are just outright bizarre. I think this movie is meant to be one of those cult classics. 5/10

Actually Vin was not interested in appearing in Tokyo Drift but accepted to do the cameo after making a deal with Universal : he did not get a single dollar for his appearance but instead he was given the rights to the Riddick character, as Universal did not want to make another movie after The Chronicles of Riddick had been considered as a box office moderate failure.
Diesel and David Twohy loved the character so much they decided doing a third movie anyway. I'm glad they did myself, I loved both movies (Pitch Black was nice but a bit clumsy IMO though)

Han was indeed very popular and fans were mad he had died so they put him back in the next movie and made it a prequel.
I think they handled it pretty well and using his death as a way to introduce Statham was brilliant. Say what you want about this series, it's one of the most coherent and well handled when it comes to consistency and plots.

Fast and Furious 8 - 7.5/10 One of the best in series was a lot fun and a little ridiculous in places I did feel the movie missed Paul Walker's presence it would have been interesting to see how the Brain character and Mia would have handled Dom's heel turn. I feel the team as whole needs to replace those that are now missing, I thought Lucas Black was supposed to be in this but I don't recall seeing him and Scott Eastwoods character didn't seem to fit at all, Charlize Theron was fantastic I loved her performance and her look with the dreads was also good seeing her rocking Metallica shirt :becky

also
but I was a little annoyed by the face turn for the Shaw brothers given their previous outings especially the reason for Deckard being a bad guy mirroring what happened to Hobbs in this movie.

Kong : Skull Island - 8/10 really enjoyed it Hiddleston is a bit wasted as a badass, than never does anything badass. Larson is gorgeous. Jackson is excellent in the 'Col Kurtz' role/parody :) Reilly steals a few scenes, as do a couple of the soldiers. Kebell is wasted, but did a lot of the mo-cap help after Planet of the Apes etc, so prob mostly on board for that.

Kong & Friends fight scenes are great. (CGI is superb) So are some of the tribute shots to video games (fps) and classic godzilla footage (through Larsons camera lens). OST is prob a must get. :)

Cant wait for the rest.

Lion (2016)

4.75 stars

Cried through about 2/3 of it probably. The first third just broke my heart, especially knowing that it really happened. Can't imagine how I would have dealt with this happening when I was 5. I kept thinking if it were me I'd just be crying for hours at a time.

Then the last 15-20 minutes cried out of happiness for him.

Dev Patel and Sunny Pawar deserve so much credit for their portrayal of Saroo. Kidman, who I haven't liked in most things for years, did well too.

Only complaints:

Rooney Mara. Could they not get anyone better. She was a piece of wood. I've seen some giving her praise for her performance and I just don't get it at all. She brought nothing to the table. Nothing. She was a black hole every time she was on screen.

I wish there was more on Saroo's life after being adopted. I understand having the time jump to grown Saroo, but would have liked more. Like more on his relationship with his adopted brother as a kid. They explained it, but, you know, show, don't tell.

There are moments where it feels like they're trying to make you well up. It worked, i did, but it felt a little forced.

Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back

Still a Classic "Luke I am your Father!" "No that's not true!". Alot of SW on the surface seems ridiculous and absurd. But that is the magic of SW, and why it works, and does not in any other movie. Suspending your Disbelief. It is funny when I watch these. IT reminds me of the Family Guy Parody :lol.

When one prior narrative is pulverized, manufactured, & ultimately replaced, it takes an all new form. Anime to live-action, one original film to another. It's got the essence of what was once held dear, w/portions of its past life coming up in a fog, while the current identity takes over. Celluloid to celluloid, 1995 Anime classic has now become the "ghost" in an effective 2017 "shell".

Less existential/lonesome in practice and more solidified on a power of society RAPING the human mind. The terrifying spin of a pragmatic, multi-cultural society being hacked, pillaged, plundered, and at risk at any time to be abducted elicits a higher caliber of fear towards the future. Cybertronic upgrades are the new pro-life campaigns that are broadcast across the world 24/7. UPGRADE YOURSELF. ENHANCE. RENEW. LIVE BETTER. The conglomerates that mask tyranny as business. Convincing the public that memories have no value, only moving forward to further zombifying - or encasing everyone in their own shell - is the answer to salvation. Utopia is achieved when everyone can be controlled.

Revolting against it is, in two-fold, an attitude towards the towering business that plays god within the picture & Sanders + co. going against the grain w/its own vision beyond standard anticipation in opting for an exact remake. It can respect elements once held dear to the original, while wanting to exist on its own merit. There's a bond, w/o feeling the NEED to be a direct reflection. As the Major attempts to pick up the pieces in figuring herself out, the film continuously dives into its own center adapting & thriving all on what keeps it separate.

Visually a masterpiece. Full blown immersion from the moments it reflects from the original, to every stunning detail that gives it a unique identity. w/its combative narrative going against the grain, it relies on a specific feel to work in concert throughout the journey. w/o one, there wouldn't be the other type. From its sights - the justified use of shell creation opening credits, prism shaped home motif, frequent skyscraper advertisements, etc - to the directing blending new set ups into established moments; IE manifesting the climatic battle scene in which the Major is positioned on a balcony facing the spiderbot, its all a sea of new dreams & forgotten memories.

Let the controversy rain down, if it must. The identity of this knowing it is full blown different, is much more refreshing than attempting to package it as one thing, while trying to convince the public it is the exact same. Or worse, "greater" than anything else. It's better than that.

I appreciate that actual stock footage of the interviews involving Joseph McCarthy were used. George Clooney directed this and there's a lot of high calibre performances and acting from well known actors in this black and white film. 8/10

Sing Street (2016)
The music in this is really catchy. Although I wasn't really feeling the main character's vocals in some songs, the instruments are enjoyable. The music is familiar and nostalgic if you're into the 80's music scene. This is a feel good movie and that ending made me feel sentimental. 7/10

Curious George (2006)
I have a soft spot for the adorable, cute, little George. It was nice to listen to a soundtrack which consisted of Jack Johnson songs as it made me feel chilled and relaxed. The animations aren't too bad, but the colour and lighting is refreshing with its vibrancy. I quite liked the bonding moments between George and Ted. 7/10

The Hateful Eight (2015)
The dialogue in this is hilarious, nothing quite like listening to Samuel L. Jackson talking about a man sucking his Johnson. I enjoyed the slow motion action scenes which was entertaining, lots of violence and blood. I liked how the events were told in a non-linear way and it was interesting to learn how the events played out and how these characters got to where they are. A lot of bad-ass moments in here. 8/10
