In the late 90's, back during the original ECW days, The Dudley Boyz were one of the hottest acts around. I'm talking about the 2-man duo (sans Joey Gertner or Sign Guy) of Buh-Buh Ray Dudley & D-von Dudley, not the many other Dudleyz through the years (Big Dick, Dances With, etc.) At one time, although obviously blinded by markdom™ I would have even said that The Dudley Boyz were my favorite tag team of all-time. To this day, I don't think that there is a better finish in the history of professional wrestling than the Dudley Death Drop [3D]. The way it was booked like it was death in ECW was incredible. Breaking Beulah's neck, scoring the first pinfall on Masato Tanaka, winning the ECW World Tag Team Titles multiple times, etc.

Flash-forward sometime and the Dudleyz move to WWF. They get over, again, and are remembered for table spots (where unfortunately The 3D became more of a Pancake/Slapjack than a neckbreaker) and had great gimmick matches, be it TLC, Table, whatever with the likes of The Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian, Too Cool or even The Acolytes. They were also notorious for putting women through tables, like Lita, Trish Stratus or even Mae Young. WWF tried to split up The Dudleyz for awhile. D-Von became a preacher & brought in Batista as his "deacon." Bubba on RAW was trying to play Dusty Rhodes to Triple H's Ric Flair. Neither really worked and The Dudleyz were put back together as a tag team before leaving WWF.

A few stints in Japan (where they even managed to win some gold) but The Dudleyz, now Team 3D due to WWE owning The Dudley Boyz name, went to TNA. Both got pretty fat and out of shape. At one time, The Nasty Boys were brought in and even in their shape they managed to outwork the Dudleyz. Maybe that was the kick in the ass that they needed. Both have since gotten into a lot better shape, maybe even the best shape of their careers. Certainly the best shape for Bully Ray, whom is one of the best heels going today in all of wrestling. Brother Devon (is that still his name?) is the TNA Television Champion and I do feel like he still feels lost without Buh-Buh around but he hasn't flopped flying solo this time like he did as the Reverend.

In approximately three weeks, both contracts for Bully Ray and Devon come to an end with TNA/Impact Wrestling. It has been reported that Team 3D are upset with how negotiations have gone and they feel disrespected that it has taken this long and gotten to this level. So if there is a semblance of a chance that they could both walk, I thought we could talk about it. So here's the question I pose to you all: Would you like to see The Dudley Boyz have another run in WWE?

In 1 word.. YES. Perhaps even as single competitors, even just Bully Ray on his own perhaps. I think bringing them back could really help the tag team division pick up again. It still ceases to amaze me how WWE ignores Jeff Hardy - Okay he barely has a clean slate does he? But he's entertaining and well worth the risks he brings. If I was Vinny Mac I'd have my agents on to a number of TNA stars months before their contracts end.

AJ Styles
Bully Ray
Jeff Hardy
Kurt Angle
Rob Van Dam
Bobby Roode
Austin Aries

There's a lot to be had from them.

No. Bully Ray is the best heel in the USA at the moment, he shouldn't change. Devon can GTFO for all I care, but Ray should stay exactly where he is in the exact same role as he currently is.

Well, their contract is up. If WWE can offer both of them more money, then they could be tempted. They would be perfect to build the tag division around, and make it big. They are the ONLY team left, who they could build it around.

They would also be able to be seen by more people, work together again & get their old names back. I'm not sure how much any of that matters to them but it might. Plus they could travel again, which again, I'm not sure if that's a positive or a negative to them at this point in their careers.

I sure would love to see them tag as The Dudley Boyz again, just to see another Dudley Death Drop. I'm a super mark.

On AJ Styles - He'd never leave TNA anyway, he's a TNA guy and would not be used in WWE. He'd be an upper mid-carder at best.

On Bully Ray - Agreed, but something tells me WWE would never debut Bully Ray the way he was in TNA. But who knows.

On Jeff Hardy - Unless he's willing to work WWE's schedule again unlikely. Plus he needs to stay fully clean and a WWE schedule is not the best thing for him.

On Kurt Angle - I'd actually like to see it happen as well.

On RVD - Lazy and unmotivated, his TNA run has been utter shit and would be a bad choice to bring back to WWE. He'd violate the wellness policy within a month of his debut.

On Robert Roode - Would be nice to see, but he'd have to work from the ground up in WWE and I don't think WWE would use him correctly.

ON Austin Aries - Same as Roode.

That photo reeks awesomeness.

I'd love to see them back and I don't think anyone would not want to see them back unless they are TNA fans and want Bully Ray to stay with TNA (and rightfully so). But with Triple H wanting to revive the tag team division by bringing in the PTP, Epico and Primo, the Usos, the Heatseekers, Gabriel-Kidd and R-Boom, and with the news that they are thinking of bringing another tag team from FCW into the main roster, I guess there is a possibility of seeing these two guys sign up with the WWE too.

I wouldn't want them back unless they could be as dangerous as they were when they first came to the WWE. I want the Dudley Boyz, not a watered down version of them.

WWE would just split them up after a few months like they seem to do with every team.

A couple of years ago not a chance in hell, they were out of shape, unmotivated and frankly an embarrassment to their legacy. But they have proved everyone wrong and got into brilliant shape again and are proving that even if you're around that dreaded 40 year old mark it doesn't mean the death toll is ringing on your career. Bubba Ray on his day has been one of the finest heels of the past twenty years ever since he first turned heel in ECW, no one can cut a promo or generate heat in quite the same way as he can, it's just that he's finally gaining recognition for it, having D-Von by his side doesn't change that. In my eyes they are truly needed in WWE right now, there isn't another team out there who have the background, the legacy and the ability to still go that The Dudley's have, a two or three year run would be put a magnificent cap on one of the most diverse careers any Tag Team has ever had.

If WWE were to use Bully Ray EXACTLY the same way, with the only difference being much stronger booking, he would be the big ME heel that they are desperately looking for.

That would be awesome, one of the best tagteams ever. Give them a tag-team run (every team beating them would be solidified as a real and good tag-team) and split them up. Bubba/Bully can be a top heel, Devon can be used in the midcard.

Not to be a Debbie Downer but this isn't meant to be a TNA thread. This isn't even meant to be a roster thread. The Dudleys contracts are ending, I was just curious if people were interesting in a potential return to WWE as an option.
I know but I was just responding to the poster who listed a bunch of wrestlers from TNA.

As for the Dudley Boyz return to WWE. For what? they've done everything they could as a tag team and that would be the only reason why they would brought back to WWE. Unless they actually want to push them highly. But D-Von wouldn't get far in WWE, he'd be in the same position he's in in TNA, while Bully Ray might do ok, but I don't see him being a main eventer either.

The Dudley Boyz are the greatest full time team in wrestling history(Not including The Outsiders or Rock and Sock). Awesome chemistry, were over huge in every company, won everything, wrestled everywhere and were able to keep their act hot for 15 years. Now Bully Ray is just amazing in his role, besides Randy Orton's early 2009 run, the best playing character in years, tremendous work. The guy is brilliant in every aspect and just completely gets IT. Not a lot of people in history, understood this industry more than Bubba.
