We can all pinpoint the time when the product in the ring started to change from the fast, violent, bloody and sometimes dumb as hell style of the Attitude and Ruthless Agression era to the current style, with longer matches and more of a focus on workrate and avoiding blood at all costs - we even have a name for it, the PG Era. The death of Benoit and the change to PG (imo, unrelated, but both important) urged the WWE to have a safer style, to mixed opinions.

But the promos changed too. Back in the day, promos weren't as heavily scripted, especially not for top guys who could hold their own in the mic. Now, we don't know what goes backstage and who gets to do shoots or who has to follow a script (except for Heyman and Punk, I guess), but we do know there was a change.

When do you think it happened, what caused it and who was affected the most by it?

Roughly a year ago then. The change has definitely been noticeable, although its clear some guys still use word for word scripts we've definitely seen promos with guys given more leeway. Wyatt's promo's for example, The shields, a lot of the promo's in the main event scene appaear to be done on the fly based off how the audience reacts, as it should really be.
