The Ascension are one of the best part NXT but I think one of there biggest probleam is there ring names.Names like Conor O'Brian or Kenneth Cameron just dosen't fit The Ascension. Names like Sinn or Vermon could work for them

Lol i know. Connor O'Brian? he's supposed to be a dark crazy intense dude and he has almost the same name as Conan O'Brian, ya that sure sounds bad ass. Kenneth Cameron? lol could you get any more generic? You are right they need darker names to go with the characters. Its like they went through the trouble of repackaging these guys but didn't feel like thinking of any new names.

In the ministry of darkness you had Viscera, Mideon, the Acolytes, Undertaker. All dark and menacing names, with the ascension you have Connor O'Brian and Kenneth Cameron, lol.

Oh yeah, agree 100%. Their names do not fit their gimmick at all. Hopefully that once they come up to the main roster they'll get better names. Keep in mind NXT still doesn't air in the States as far as I know so WWE still doesn't care about it.

I see where you are coming from, but I think they might be a little too cheesy with 'evil' names. I don't mind their current names and as a team they are awesome, IMO they should be first in line for a call up to the main roster from the guys currently on NXT.

Agreed, they shouldn't have second names, just one word. Something Rat or Wolf based for Conor and hell, go for Kenneth Cameron's real last name, Latimer, for his real name. Slither and Latimer or something.

Because "Bradshaw" and "Farooq" were dark, menacing names?

The names are fine. At the most, drop the last names and have them run as "Conor" and "Kenneth."

Compared to Connor O'Brian and Kenneth Cameron? ya they are. Darker demented characters are best suited with a one word name, a first and last name makes them seem too normal.

Yeah, WWE needs more bigger than life characters with gimmicks and unique 1 word names. For example: The Krusher, etc.

They've got both first and last names. Drop the last names and it's a wash with Bradshaw/Farooq. It's not like every "dark" or "menacing" individual randomly takes on a new name. Edge & Christian aren't exactly scary names.

Going too far over the top with names could be just as bad as playing it conservatively. If the Ascension adds another member down the road, would you want that person to suddenly have a "new" name? Is their gimmick some sort of "rebirth" scenario?

Maybe they're British Isles themed bad guys.

What's next, calling them "Sin" and "Bones" and later revealing Jericho as their leader?

Nothing wrong with full names overall, but in this context it really is fucking weak. I mean, who on earth is going to get intimidated by someone called Kenneth? Or by someone who's name sounds like a TV personality? It worked for Bradshaw and Faarooq because they were well known names before they debuted as The Acolytes, and besides, I thought they were more just an ass-kicking machine like the Road Warriors rather than some dark, demonic force.

In The Ministry, The Undertaker was the omnipotent, demon leader, Mideon and Viscera were like strange, mysterious servants and The Acolytes were just like Satanic bouncers from a nightclub.

Totally agree and I've thought the same from when they first debuted. I'm particularly surprised Conor O'Brien hasn't been renamed since his name is really generic and it reminds me of his rat gimmick thing from NXT 4.
