Pleased for Brazil!

The Seleção were just never going to lose in The Maracanã were they? 8 )

Some finish from Everton for the opener, wonder where he’ll end up?

Messi moaning when he loses yet again, he’s no leader or captain!

Why exactly is Messi complaining about his red card and spouting off about corruption and match fixing during a 3rd place match?

Yes the red was definitely harsh on him that’s true but Medel got sent off as well so where’s the injustice? Both players got sent off so it’s not like the referee was biased towards Chile, they both lost a player so I don’t get it.

Messi only has himself to blame if he gets a 2 year ban. The red was harsh yes but you just can’t make comments like that just because you lost a game and didn’t win another international tournament.

Keep your cool and try and be the bigger man in this situation, this is the role of a leader and a proper captain.

Joel was obviously referring to the semi final match. Both of them were pens. More of a pen than the one that Brazil got in the final. Yet there were no VAR checks for some reason. plus the interruption in the connection between ref and VAR room.

Yeah there were definitely two clear penalties and they definitely should have gone to the VAR. Yes those two decisions could have changed the game but there were opportunities for Brazil to extend the lead like Coutinho’s horrible miss, that’s football sometimes!

Argentina’s problem is that they can’t defend for shit (look at the goals they conceded) and rely too heavily on Messi. As good as he can be, he can’t do it all on his own. When you’ve got bottle jobbing donkeys like Higuain playing beside you and a shitty midfield, defence and goalkeeper it’s no wonder they can’t win anything. Messi should be moved into a number 10 role and should be feeding the likes of Dybala and Icardi or using his turn of pace in the hole to do his magic.

Their team just isn’t good enough. They have loads of individual talent but can’t seem to bring it together when it counts on the big stage, trust me I know how that feels being a Madrid fan!

I think its the weakest Argentina team in years. Even decades. Their defense isn't up to their historical standards and young midfielders they have are promising but can't be compared to the previous generations. Offense is the best part of their team but still not enough. Everybody blasts Messi for years but its baffling how much of shit Agüero has been for his nation. Not even talking about Higuain for the past several tournaments.

The guy Messi had his best time with Argentina was the great Riquelme. The chemistry they had from '05 to '08 was unbelievable. If you put that Riquelme to this Argentina team things would be so different. Even with the same defense they would have more of the possession and outscore the best of them.

I’d definitely go as far as decades, they’ve been on a steady decline for a long long time now and don’t seem to look like improving any time soon.

It’s always the same though, there’s so much pressure on Messi to deliver that when they fail he gets the brunt of the blame which is unfair. It’s the modern game though and the likes of Ronaldo, Hazard, Kane, Neymar and all the top players get absolutely torn to pieces when they get knocked out of big tournaments but I do think Messi gets it worse than most because it’s Argentina and this “next Maradona” title has been placed upon him.

Yes Agüero has been a disaster for Argentina. It’s baffling for sure considering his goal scoring numbers at Manchester City.

Riquelme was class, how they could do with a player like him right now!
